Anybody who says boynton beach is safe needs to take a walk down MLK Blvd and Seacrest. Yes there may be safe areas, but those safe areas are where people from the not safe areas go to commit robberies, burglaries, so on and so forth. why would someone rob somebody who is just as poor as they are? they to go to the nice neighborhoods where the money is at. so even if you are in a safe neighborhood that does not mean you are safe

Even in West Boynton they have some problems because of this. The bad neighborhoods of Lake Worth Corridor/NW Boynton (or the very beginning of West Boynton) have crime that sometimes creep over into the surrounding neighborhoods. For example, there was a gang shooting at the Albertsons in West Boynton, but the people involved in it were actually from Lake Worth Corridor.

If you do not regularly get the Palm Beach Post, just buy one from a store on a Friday and check out their TGIF paper. They'll list lots of things going on, including stuff that you can do anytime you like--museums, nature areas, etc.--look at the back of the TGIF paper for that.

It's more complicated than that, actually, because most crimes are NOT completely "random".
Another factor is what gets reported and why--including crimes that are not reported as well as crimes that are reported and classified in different categories because other issues, such as funding, depends on them.
I'm of the opinion that crime statistics do not actually tell anyone very well how likely it is that THEY will be a victim of crime.
However, I agree that aside from living in an area for awhile and judging it based on your experiences, as well as your knowledge of local crimes, statistics are the best thing we can go by--but primarily because there simply is no other alternative other than anecdotes where we have no way of gauging the reliability of the person uttering the anecdote.

Looking for rental

If you haven't found anything as of yet, I would be happy to assist you. I am a Realtor and I am familiar with the Boca through Boynton areas. Without knowing your requirements, I would think that you should be able to find something in the $1500/mo range. Of course there are caveats like, do you have pets? Children, etc. They will, and do, have an affect on what you can get.

Boynton Beach vs West Palm Beach
Hi, I'm going to be moving to Southern Florida in a couple of months and I'm trying to find out what the safest area for me to be living in would be. The prices seem good and the area seems nice. I've been looking at apartments such as The Cove at Boynton Beach on New Lake Drive, Banyan Lake on Stonehaven Drive, Reserve at Ashley Lake on Cedar Lake Drive, and Savannah Lakes at Savannah Lakes Drive in Boynton Beach. Are these safe places to live? Which one would be the best places to live?
My sister lives in West Palm Beach and wants me to live in her apartment complex but it would cost at least $880 a month but it's a gated community. It's called Portofino at Lakes Laguna. Is this a safe area?
Which area would be safer to live in? Boynton Beach or West Palm Beach?

You know, my mom has lived in boynton - east of seacrest/95 and south of Woolbright for 20+ years and it is nice there. It is more like north Delray along Seacrest on the south end. Some pretty good value for an easy location, straight to 95 and west palm is easy from there. You can rent a whole house and in a decent neighborhood.

I also like the neighborhood near the schoolhouse museum, ocean avenue, and such. Great values in there.
