Anyone have any ideas or thoughts on all of the recent car burglaries; even behind the gates of some of the gated communities? Seems like in the past 2 months it's been really rampant all over the village. Every neighborhood we love has had an issue with a car (or three) being broken into (all gated communities). Thanks for any info or thoughts. I guess I'm wondering if it's seasonal or associated in anyway with a more permanent trend.

we here about them from time to time in our community. I have never had an issue. my understanding is it happens in cars left unlocked where valuables are left in car. My guess is it is kids looking for drug monies. so long as their is drug problems among teens in this country thing like this will happen,

This issue escalates during the summer months when kids are out of school.

Good theory but PBSO arrested Zachary Petrovey, age 30 for the crime spree.

You do realize that gated doesn't mean Fort Knox right?

Often gated residents feel more secure, yet get more careless because they have a guard making $9 an hour struggling to stay awake in the 10X10 guardhouse which can lead to more crime than if they didn't live in the gated complex.

Yes I realize that. Lol. I've lived in both gated and non gated areas and dont really have a preference.

So much for that theory. Since his arrest the spree has intensified. There has been 6 break-ins / thefts just this week alone and several more the weeks after his arrest. Oh well.
