Sister Relo'ing from Long Island to WPB (Palm Beach: HOA, house)

Here's another 'what's it like to live there' thread but this is on behalf of someone else.

My sister wants to buy a house in Breakers West, which is a gated community in WPB. She can be a bit impulsive and I'm concerned that she may not have done enough research on the area.

Does anyone know anything about the gated community she likes? How about safety in the area? She's single (age 53) and likes meeting new people. Is this a decent place for that? Not just men; friends in general.

I know nothing about this area and don't want her to regret her decision. She is not the kind of person who does much research. "Shoot first and ask questions later" is her mantra; definitely not mine.

Any answers would be welcome. Thanks!

There are a lot homes in Palm Beach County in that price range. I hope she got to see the entire county. That location is west of the Turnpike, high end community, golf,etc but you're going to be car dependent. That area is safe, other areas in WPB are dicey. I like the Boca area of the county but to each their own. The Breakers West has a HOA Website that has info. I don't think she can go wrong on a good property in Florida, the boomers are migrating here in big numbers,

BW is directly under the flight path of the airport (PBI)..... That alone would be a no go for me.
Have her visit the Walmart just outside the south gate, once you see who your neighbors really are you probably won't buy there.
