We are looking to relocate (from the NE) & have narrowed our search to Boca Raton, or Jupiter (Beach area). We have a 13 year old son & want the option of both public schools & private... we hear both areas have good public schools.

We want to be close to the water/beach (either on, or walking/biking distance close). Aspects that are non-factors at this time are Jobs/work, commute/traffic, real estate pricing, weather/summer heat...

What I am really after is simply an assessment or feedback on quality of life for a middle aged couple with a tween kid.... The one negative that comes back on each (and that we have commonly heard) is that Boca is too pretentious and Jupiter is too quiet.

Important variables:
* School Rating
* Low Crime
* Good For Families

We were also originally considering Delray, but after a short visit & research it seems like the crime/demo & recovery treatment home/programs were a turn off.

If anyone has feedback that's geared towards quality of local community, schools & life etc... that would be awesome!

Thanks in advance!

Both are good areas in the regards of high rated schools, etc
Jupiter is more laid back and to some people has more of a suburban feel. Traffic on Indiantown can be bad but still pretty quiet compared to many other areas.
Boca is a busier area, lots of traffic.
Palm Beach Gardens is another good area and has more restaurants and shopping than Jupiter.

They are both beautiful areas. Since I don't have school aged children, I cannot comment on the schools but if proximity to Miami and sports or other venues that they may not have up in Jupiter is important to you, Boca is the better choice because of location.
