Not denying that.
Also, the income level in Wellington is higher than Boca, yet it still doesn't feel as flashy. Nuff said.
Weston acutally earns a little more than Wellington. About 10 thousand higher, but I don't know, the vibe is just different. I'm not going to say it feels any more affluent but it seems less "in your face", with the exception of SOME of the wealthy Venezuelans (and I DON'T like to generalize). Which leads me to say that also have that heavy Latin thing here though...don't have as much of that in Wellington. Wellington and Weston are very similar areas, in fact in a few ways Wellington is a little nicer. Weston feels more resort-y and Wellington feels more ranch-y. Weston also feels less congested, as it doesn't have a 441, but then again 10 minutes away Pines Blvd/Pembroke Pines is the same thing.
I think Wellington Green is upper-middle end. They have Coach, Nordstrom, etc. It's not Town Center but it's not Boynton Beach Mall (word up foo!) or Broward Mall (true middle-of-the-road mall). But I have been there numerous times (actually I went there the week it opened) and the people still seemed superficial and uptight and there are a few upper end stores, although it's a beautiful mall.

Weston supposedly has a higher household income then Boca according to my source, no idea if it's accurate? Based on visuals to me I see more wealth in Boca. The generalized picture of Boca is upscale and the mall supports that image with high end stores and shops. I never looked at Wellington as Snob City. Something Boca has a hard time of not being guilty of.
Wellington Green, hmm yes it's not a Boynton Beach Mall or worse yet Palm Beach Mall but it's not the Gardens or Boca Town Center by any stretch. The Nordstrom at the Wellington Mall is a toned down store, not sure what they call it but it's not the same as the one in Boca. Smaller scale and they don't offer a lot of the similar high end products.
Comparing the young crowd, I see more younger people in Wellington then Boca, less Joan Rivers types.
Getting back to the OP, I would check out Wellington. If your hobbies included Dog Parks and Sports activities and being active in your community then this is one of your best bets.

Boca Living
I know it's hard to get connected but you guys are young and you have all the time in the world. When I got married, I found a whole new group - I live in a neighborhood - all families - very friendly in Boca - everyone knows each other! Really! Also, my niece just got married last weekend - she is 24, he is 26 - they are having their first child in about 7 1/2 months - they live in a very friendly community also.
This is what you need to do - join things. Your nicer people are those that care about the community; they volunteer their time; they spend with their children; they take their dogs to the dog park. No, they are not in the malls all the time. They are home with their families.
I am married to a shy guy and it took the volunteer work to bring him out as far as his personality.
You can DM me if you want more info. There are nice people everywhere, trust me.

Hobbies- computer gaming, Music(phish, pink floyd), reading, sci fi fan. That is SOOOOO my husband (and me)!! You play WoW?
Hello there. I live in Delray Beach, just north of Boca. My hubby (28) and I (25) moved here when our daughter was younger. She's 3 now and I have to agree with you that the people are unfriendly here.
We are looking to get out also into a more family-friendly atmosphere. If you don't make over 6 figures down here you're sorta screwed.
I am joing the YMCA (as someone on here suggested) to possibly meet other families. But, truthfully, there seems to be a lack of people our age with young children. Everyone seems too self-centered and don't focus on marriage and children until later in life down here.
We're thinking Orlando also. Perhaps we can get together and discuss our game plans for moving elsewhere.
What kind of work do you do? My hubby's a computer programmer and I'm an editor/virtual assistant.
E-mail me if you're interested.

We went to the Wellington dog park the other day. It was by far the biggest I've ever seen, however, the only problem was the general ages of the people there(45+).
I hear you and others saying that Wellington is nice, "family oriented", etc... Are the people there actually that different than Boca? Is there anything special about the area in terms of things to do? Are there young mothers(under 37 or so)?

The Dog Park in Okee Park? That's actually Greenacres but it's close, your in Wellington once you cross the turnpike going West.
I don't know what to tell you, ages will vary and your fixated on age ranges. If you want the 20 something crowd, you'll probably need to focus on things that 20 somethings do. Typically around here that's hanging out at Clubs.

There is a dog park in Wellington as well as the one at Okeeheelee (sp?). I've been past the Okee one and it's huge. One of my co-workers speaks very highly of it. Friends of mine live near the one in Wellington, but I haven't been there.

I wish I could say that anything local is going to be any different. I live in Wellington and find the people to be EXACTLY as you described them in Boca. I've lived here for 5 years and am currently planning to move out of state because I've given up on trying to make it work here. Florida is what it is, and it's just not for some people. I suggest moving out-of-state. It sounds like Austin, Texas would be good for you. Lots of people in your age group, lots to do, very friendly people and great schools.
