We realize that it would be smart to rent for a little while before we buy a house in Boca just to get a feel for the area (make sure we find the right community for us). Our plan would be to rent in a town other than Boca in hopes of saving money on rent.
Can anyone help me in my search for towns to consider - near Boca, but cheaper? Also, if you have names of specific communities/rental properties, that would be welcome information! Thanks.

He was obviously joking. Lake Worth in very bad shape and feels like east LA.

You could look further west in Boca, it gets cheaper as you move further west. If that is still too much money, you can try Coconut Creek to the south. Not as fancy but safe (actually much safer than Boca) and more affordable if it's going to be a temporary thing. Definitely not as nice as Boca as a whole but not a total penalty like Lake Worth. If you want to stay in Palm Beach County (it's prettier lol), west Boynton is a little less expensive than Boca, but also a bit further away. You can also try Coral Springs, but visit before you rent and be selective about your location. I would say if it's off of Coral Ridge Drive north of Royal Palm Blvd, or on Sample Rd, avoid it. The rest of the city is actually very nice but also a little further from Boca, especially if you go far enough south. Remember, Boca has spotty parts too.

So your closest option that makes sense is probably Coconut Creek, if you cant find something cheaper in W. Boca.

Thank you, compelled.
I appreciate your ideas as well as the info that the other posters' idea was meant to be sarcastic. I would not know that b/c I do not live in the area.
