My fiancee and I moved to south Florida from Md about 9 months ago; and we decided to start a business running errands for people. We would like to know what actual people thought about the idea and what would you as a client would expect from such a business? price, time efficiency, service etc. If anyone would like to give some constructive criticism or just some feedback on how often this type of service would be needed, it would be greatly appreciated.

I would think witht he number of aging retirees in S. FLorida, this would be an excellent business. I would probably find a way to market it on the internet via adult children of retirees, nursing homes, and maybe do some in-person visits to nursing homes and retierment communities, meeting with the directors there. Have a brochure or business cards or flyers available to distribute.

Seems like there would be quite a market for this type of business.

Are you anywhere near the Palm Beaches? I've never met so many personal assistants in my life until I moved here! LOL. There are many retired wealthy older individuals that use these services as well as stay-at-home moms who need a little extra help. Most people are referred by word of mouth (for trust reasons) but there are some people who will place ads online or on job search websites. I'm not familiar with the ins and outs of the business but I would definitely advertise the service at community events, fairs, green markets, and other public gathering events. Hope that helps!

I am a companion/caregiver doing private work for the past six years. With all the seniors in Florida, I still find it hard to find a job. I've posted flyers, given out business cards and put ads on Craigslist. Sometimes it is months before I hear anything. Any other suggestions on finding this type of work. I truly enjoy helping seniors that need it.
