Actually, there are bad areas in Boynton Beach besides Cherry Hill. That's just the poorest section. The most western tip of the city (not West Boynton) has a seedy section (near Lake Worth Corridor). That's near the borderline of where there was an Albertson's shooting. Most of East Boynton has become run down as well (Cherry Hill is the absolute worst of East Boynton but other bad areas exist there too).

Just because a city has the name 'Beach' means that it won't have bad areas? I can think of many cities off the top of my head with ghettos that have the word 'Beach' in the city name (Long Beach, CA, West Palm Beach, FL, Pompano Beach, FL, North Miami Beach, FL, Deerfield Beach, FL, (though certainly to a less extent), etc).

I know. I wasn't commenting on the name 'beach' but commenting on the fact that it was actually located near the beach as the poster said something about putting a deposit on a house near the beach. I live in Florida too and I've figured that out (long ago) that a city having the word 'BEACH' in it's title means very little as far as how nice or safe it is! I think its misleading to many people but of course, a person should always check things out (in person) before purchasing.

LOL, you gotta be kidding me. Boynton is almost all elderly people and young families. I've lived there for 15 years, and our car was broke into once- by nearby white kids from Boca Raton.

There are some Haitian gangs in nearby Delray, but only in isolated parts of East Delray past Federal Hwy.

Riviera Beach is 12-15 miles north of Boynton, so someone living in Boynton will have nothing to do with gangbangers from there.

Also, that Christmas time shooting in the Boynton mall (I was working at the Penney's there during summer break) was gang related. One Haitian gangster shot another. Ordinary people have little to fear.

I have a reason you shouldn't move to Boynton: IT IS BLOODY BORING. West Palm or Ft. Lauderdale are better options, in my opinion.

Too true! Let's not forget Hallandale Beach too. Granted, the parts right along A1A aren't bad but then you have the sections that are closer to 95.

It seems like you are not knowledgeable about this city. If you live nearby Boca then you live in Delray Beach, which is an entirely different city (you should know that considering the two cities have different names). The western section contains lots of old people and young families but the east section doesn't. In fact if Boynton Beach is so safe according to you then why are the crime rates so high?

And Riviera Beach is far worse than Hallandale Beach. It seems like you visit a tiny portion of every city and base the entire city on that. No wonder why some people visit areas like Miami and think it's an excellent place to move based on a fun travel trip.

And in regards to the mall you'll see lots of shady characters there compared to the lily-white wealthy people that go to your local Town Center Mall at Boca Raton.

.
Who said white kids can't be burglars? They are probably the ones doing all of the breaking-and-entering in West BB. My family told me the seemingly endless burglary spree around there has been slowing down around there.

And Desdemona25, I agree about Hallandale when you get close to 95 (although I think it's about the same as most of South FL close to 95), but Dania Beach is the worst in Broward IMO, followed by Pompano Beach. Dania Beach looks like the 60s were left there to rot and feels like the 80s. I think it's the strangest place in South FL...although Hollywood is pretty strange too. OK, I'm done hijacking lol...

LOL, please mate, I've seen 14 year-old Haitian gangsters posing with their guns claiming that Boynton is the hood. It is far from it.

And I'm not from Boca; I lived in Boynton, went to Boynton and Delray public schools, and worked several jobs in BOYNTON, including at the Boynton Mall. Shady characters at the mall? You mean the kids who go to Hot Topic and D.E.M.O? Better avoid that dangerous part of the mall between Muvico and Starbucks- I heard you can get robbed!! LOL

A lot of crime in Boynton is "poor on poor" crime... in other words, if you don't live in the older, low-income parts of East Boynton, and if you use common sense, you will be okay crime-wise.

People LOVE to hype and overstate the crime in their city to make it seem more "hardcore" than other towns.
