Not currently, but I started out there. I worked at the very large employer of P&C actuaries in Boca (80+ actuaries there).

There are a few firms in the Boca area. There are also a few places in Fort Lauderdale and Miami, so you aren't necessarily trapped if you want to change jobs. If you're on the life side, I'm not sure what your options look like.

You should be able to live in Boca on starting actuarial salary. And your quality of life will only increase with every test you pass.

Ozy - I am in P&C also, and I would prefer to stay in consulting (I worked in insurance as an intern). I'm just starting out (and yes I have exams). Ah...we shall see, I guess.

I know which employer you are talking about...obviously as do most in the insurance industry

Hey everybody...some related questions:

(1) What are some good areas around Boca that have a short commute?

(2) Is it possible to live on/close to the beach? What areas can you suggest?

(3) If I wanted to buy a house instead of renting an apartment, would this change the salary requirements?
