I am in NJ, considering moving there. I am just alarmed at the crime stats in Boynton. How is this area? When I was visting back in march it seemed great.
I have heard east of 95 is they area that is really bad. Any thoughts on how safe or unsafe this area is? Any other suggestions to look? I want something with pool, sauna, gym, clubhouse. Has to be a condo/townhouse under 200K. Was also considering possibly Wellington, but not sure where to look.

Please do a search for BOYNTON BEACH. There have been many different threads about this area. The general consensus has been that most if it is a bad area, expect for a small area that is not. Do a search.

I have read those. I am looking for opinions of reniassance specifically. If that is no good, I need opinions of wellington or a good area in PBC to buy a condo.

I moved near Renaissance Commons six months ago and love the area. There are a lot of new restaurantes, shopping plazas, a new Muvico, they are renovating the Boynton Mall (which is much needed), it's close to I95, close enough to the beach (unlike Wellington, Royal Palm, Acerage, etc.). I think some people on here overexaggerate the Boynton crime, it is definately there but mostly east of I95 as stated. I don't feel unsafe in my neighborhood (about 1.5 miles north of Renaissance off Congress). There is crime all over Palm Beach Country - Delray has it's seedy sections, as does Lake Worth, West Palm, Riviera, even Boca has its share of crime these days. Bottom line, everyone has to be careful no matter where you live.

As to the units, I looked at a townhouse there and they offer a lot of amenities like you wanted. They look very nice but I've heard the quality is a bit lacking. There are some GREAT deals in there right now though, so it might be worth checking out.

I owned and rented in Boynton Beach for 15 years. Winters only -- and yes it has gone
downhill. I would recommend Palm Beach Gardens. Good Luck !!

I too love renaissance commons due to the fact you can walk to all the amazing restaurants and bars. I am relocating to Ocala and have to rent my place out (4 bedroom, 3.5 bathroom, 2 car garage, townhome). If anyone is interested, just pm me. I am looking to get it rented by mid july with first month free, or $1467 a month (prorated).

Renaissance is a great area as far as convenience, there's a lot of restaurants in the area super target, best buy and a lot of other great shopping places. The only thing is the large amount of short sales/foreclosures (roughly 25 right now that are being marketed). There's more stable complexes under 200k right now. San Savino, and Canterbury, are just two in the area that are good options.

that is the less than the national average of 10% of all homes in foreclosure. there are way more than 250 townhouses and condos in renaissance commons
