I'd say it is pretty spot on.

I think kids that work in high school, even mall jobs gives them exposure to time management/ people skills and lastly self worth. Now compare that to a kid that is given money and go do whatever you want I have seen where that person is trying to play "catch up" with their lives once they get their first real job.

I have seen neighbor's kids, never work/go to college and then come home and sit on the couch waiting for the greatest job ever to call them! Now Covid issues were hindering employment but the principle was still in effect.

Latest kid, trying to get a degree in "art" ..........hmmm sounds like you are going to be ripping tickets at a local movie theater! Kid is 20, has never had a job of any type, zero responsibilities and combined with an art degree........ummm that is going to be a tough life ahead. How is that kid going to "sell" themselves to a prospective employer? How are they going to impress them with their past work experience?

I'd hire a poor kid that has worked for a few years, that kid has the drive to get stuff done.
