See, St. Louis is known as both a agreat, AND a horrible place to live, depending on wherein it is.
Relatedly, one of the best views of the West Palm Beach skyline is coming off of Palm Beach Island over the Southern Avenue bridge. I need to see if I can find a pic somewhere... |

Hi, I am looking at moving out of G-d forsaken Sacramento, Ca. and am looking at the area around Palm Beach Gardens. Not a job transfer, just time to leave here. I had lived in Hollywood, back in the 70's, but it's looking pretty shabby now. I was in the Keys in Sept. '07. Any ideas about rental houses? I keep getting re-routed to different web sites when looking. We have 2 small kitties and one pittie. She's a lover, not a fighter, and runs from the vaccum when I clean. She's not a barker either.( she's 8 yrs old) I am so ready to just go! What about smaller towns around this area? Seems where I was looking at, for rental, was right across the street from the mall! Not too good! Any help would be greatly appreciated. I am early 50's , my Mom would be coming and my oldest son, 27, not a partier, but ex-Army. I have my BA in Criminal Justice and will be going for my Masters in Psych, so I am not a slouch. (just in case someone knows of a rental) Thanks! brat242 aka Liz

Riviera Beach is prettyl bad. But Pahokee & Belle Glade take the cake as the most oppressed and dilapitated areas of PBC.

If you're looking to rent in Palm Beach Gardens- you may want to try the east area (heading toward U.S. 1 and the beach...). That's an older area of PBG and I think you may find a few single-family-home rentals there. If you're interested in the West area, you can try PGA national (there are several types of housing available in that community- homes, villas, etc). We have alot of snowbirds here who own prpperty in the area and are always ready to rent. It's still pretty pricey though. Definitely not a party scene so you won't have to worry about the neighborhood. |

With the recent sale of US Sugar's land to the state, the cities around the lake are going to go even further down. It's sad because a LOT of that area's commerce is based on the sugar industry.
Makes me glad now that my dh ended up not trying to get a railroad job with South Central Florida Railroad (the short line based in Clewiston that is mostly owned by US Sugar). He would have only been working there for a few years before being let go. |

You make it sound like farm land and wide open spaces are terrible. I repsectfully disagree. Enjoy it while it lasts. |
