I need to know if the area of Lake Worth, Lantana, or West Palm Beach are planning to ban pit bulls. I grew up in the West Palm are and thinking about moving back but I don't want to give up my 2 dogs. Any help or advice would be appreciated. Thank you.

There is one right next door. That I know of they have only been banned in Miami because of the illegal fights but when I briefly volunteered at a pet shelter here there were quite a few up for adoption.

My neighborhood has no such restrictions. As a matter of fact, I'm pretty sure my neighbor has a pitbull and a rotweiler. Sweet dogs.

It's actually illegal for a city/county to ban a particular breed (according to state law). The only reason why Miami-Dade gets away with that is because their pit bull ban was in place before the state law came about.

You should be fine. 2 of my neighbors have Pits, one of my co-workers has 2 Pits and I see them frequently when I'm at the dog park.

I'd actually be surprised if you found a neighborhood completely devoid of them (sans apartments and such that don't allow pets completely).

I don't think they plan on banning them here in the palm beaches. I have one and have had in the past. There are many here in Palm Beach and I have a relative that works in the humane society here. I just happened to go there today where there are quite a few up for adoption. They are really sweet and misunderstood. I think they make great pets. Contrary to some public opinion, they do love people.

Many times insurance companies will not insure your porperty if you own a Pit Bull. That may be some of the reason so many people have to give theirs up too. You can't get a mortgage without HO Insurance.

Hi I have a very important question that I hope could be answered here. I moved in with my mother with my daughter and our very sweet pit bull. The HOA sent a letter saying I was not going to be able to keep the dog and that I have to give her away. I have yet to look over the papers my mother signed when buying the house, but if it says nothing about pit bull bands do I have rights? From, Very Upset Jennakaxo@aol.com
