Latin American IT jobs are centered around Boca and Ft. Lauderdale? I have seen a lot of Latin sounding technology related businesses in Coral Gables and along the Coral Way commercial corridor (think banyan trees). I don't know exactly what they do, although I know they are technology related and probably staff only Latin Americans as the names of some of these businesses are very hard to pronounce.
I probably wasn't clear enough, I meant to say there is a lot of Latin American IT in Dade County. What they do is operate websites and other technology for points further south. Most of the "US based" companies (I.E Citrix Systems) are in Ft. Lauderdale and Boca.

You can get homes with bigger square footage cheaper than that (I've got one under contract at the moment . . . just keeping my fingers crossed that it goes through), but I look at it this way. If I rent instead, say at $800 per month, then in one year I have a guarantee that I just lost $9,600, two years, I just lost $19,200, and in five years, I've lost $48,000--there's no doubt about that, it's a guaranteed loss. If I buy a house for 150k, while there's a possibility that I would only be able to get 102k for it in five years (and yes, possibly even less), there's no guarantee that I'll lose that much on it--there's a good chance that I'll make a bit over what I owe when I sell it. And at 150k, your payments (including property tax, etc.) are not going to be that much more per month than you'd be paying in rent anyway.
True, but nothing kills your credit more than going upside down in your loan after not finding a job...

There aren't many strait up "office space" types in Miami. That is all I a trying to say.

I agree with that, although given the current mess we're in, that might be even less of a long-term problem than it used to be. It was always possible to clean up just in case that happened, you just needed to make the right moves and wait a few years, but it might be even easier in the future since otherwise there won't be many people to market credit and/or loans to.

I might need to take this thread off my "subscribed list". Every time I see the title, I have an urgent need to play some War . . .

thats bull,
Lake Worth is like any other small city. There are really nice areas and perhaps 20% is very low income. I haved lived here for over 4 years with no trouble. Don't ask for trouble, and you shall not receive any...

Greetings All,

We intend to to sail around the coast of Florida from the Gulf side and head up to Lake Worth as a staging area prior to crossing over to the Bahamas. Does any of the violence I read about on these forums spill over into the water? We will of course shop during the day and we will sleep on the boat.

Thanks!

lol -- you just gave me the funniest image of dudes from the "gangstas and thugs" video falling off of the Lake Worth Pier into the Atlantic Ocean like lemmings.

lol, yes, south Florida has tons of pirates roaming the intercoastal, with hooks on their hands and monkey's on their sholders. I reccomend u let them come on board and cooperate or else they'll fire cannons at ur boat. They've continually made attacks on the Carnival Cruise ship's down in Miami. And The National Guard has made efforts to try and stop them, but to no avail, so dock at marina's with extreme caution. South Florida is only second to Somalia in the amount of pirate hijackings in the modern world.

Sarcasm is not really needed. The question could easily be asked due to the tons of negative posts that seem to abound here about the area......I've never been that south of Florida, but by everything I seem to read here, I don't have the desire to......
