Looking to purchase a home at Black Diamond in Wellington
My realtor showed us some properties at Black Diamond last week and we were pretty impressed. Can anyone tell me whether it is a friendly and safe neighbourhood? We are a young professional couple and planning to have kids soon. Thank you!

Hi- I just found this place looking for any info on crime stats in RPB but I believe I can help you out. I'm a second generation floridian, lived in PBC- all over, from loxahatchee eastward- my whole life. The area that you are talking about is on land that was, until relatively recently, all grazing land and orange groves. The houses in Black Diamond will all be up to post-Andrew code. If I was looking to raise a family in PBC, I could think of dozens of places that would be worse to do so than Black Diamond and surrounding environs and only a few that even have a chance of being better.
I'd buy there without hesitation if I found a place that I really liked that was also within my price range. I am not familiar with the schools for that area though. When I was growing up in the area, we went to wellington elementary, wellington middle, and wellington high- all of which are highly rated at least as far as Florida schools go. Now, there are a whole bunch more that I'm unfamiliar with and that probably warrant further research.

So...that should keep everyone from ever buying there?? Obviously it was a family problem, and not reflective of the area.
