Thinking of moving from Mass to Palm Beach Gardens/Jupiter looking for good private schools in the area
Hi,
We are contemplating moving from Mass to Florida. One of the places we are considering is Palm Beach Gardens and Jupiter. We are looking for a safe family oriented area. What are the best communities in the area for families and what are the best private schools middle and upper in the area?
Thank you for any info.

What's your price range? What KIND of community are you looking for? Land? Cookie cutter?

Type of community
We are looking for an active family neighborhood of mostly year round people...gated communities look like they would be fun to live in. We don't have any up in Massachusetts. We would like it to be a safe area and upscale (good construction). We can look up to 1 million. Any suggestion or info would be great. Have read about San Michelle, Frenchman's Reserve, Mirasol ......on the internet.
Any suggestions?

Those are all good options. San Michelle, I believe, is a much smaller development though.
Add to your list Valencia in Abacoa, and Frenchman's Creek. The whole area is safe. You will really have to spend a day or two visiting each and every development and getting a feel for the area.
You may find that many of the "big name" "big money" developments have less kids.

I've lived in Valencia at Abacoa for 6 years. Biased or unbiased, the best upscale place in the area for families with kids! Not gated but in safe Jupiter. Jupiter schools are great - many families here send their kids to Benjamin, others swear by Jupiter Middle and Jupiter High - both free and some of the best.

Benjamin School is a great private school, best around that area. If you are looking for family oriented, I agree that Valencia is a good place to check out. Abacoa is a wonderful family community. We lived in New Haven (also part of Abacoa) and we would have some people from Admirals Cove come to our neighborhood to go for walks to get the "neighborhood feel", so not sure you'll get the family friendly community there. Several beautiful areas to look at around there, I'm sure you will find something wonderful.

We used to live in Jupiter, in Jupiter Farms. However, our daughter lives in Abacoa, and I used to teach at Independence Middle School, which is in Abacoa.
The public schools in the area are excellent...Lighthouse Elementary, Independence Middle, and Jupiter High School.
My grandchild goes to Turtle River Montessori school in Jupiter. Excellent school! She is going to be 6 in July and is reading on a 2nd Grade level. They have just built a brand new school, right in Jupiter, convenient for all. Now I know you are asking why she attends private school if the public schools are so good, right? She has been at Turtle River since she was 3 years old, LOVES the school, and has just done wonderfully well, so they didn't want to move her to public school.
Abacoa is a great place to live, and if you love baseball you are going to love Abacoa. Check out the spring training line-up! Also, right in Abacoa you have swimming, skateboard park, roller-hockey park, playgrounds, golf, restaurants, etc. Many well known people are in the Jupiter area, but if you see them in the restaurants common courtesy is to leave them totally alone.
The other private schools are also excellent. Benjamin School is great, and the various schools for arts are also excellent. You need to audition for those. If you check out the high school that offers the arts when your kids reach that age, only ONE has the kids actually working on helping to produce actual professional movies that make it to the big screen! Opportunities in the Palm Beach area are wonderful!

A safe upscale neighborhood is Pennock Point. It is one of the few places in all of Jupiter that is close to town and on half or full acres. When you drive into Pennock Point it just feels like an oasis compared to Abacoa, which has zero lots lines and is much more crowded. There are lots of kids and great schools. Half of the homes are on the river. There are homes in your price range or you could afford a lot and build your dream home.
