We are looking at renting this summer, and next. After that, we will be looking at buying. I agree, there are a million fantastic options. Almost too many! I can't wait to get out there in May!
Are there any streets in particular you would recommend staying south of?

Within the actual city of West Palm Beach, if you're looking for Single Family Homes, stay SOUTH of Okeechobee Blvd. (Condos downtown or along the water basically anywhere are fine).
Inbetween Okeechobee and Belvedere, stay pretty much between Parker and the water. Between Belvedere Rd south to the city limits, you are best to stay East of Dixie Highway. West of Dixie is hit or miss, however.
You can also venture out to Lake Clarke Shores for single family homes, which is west of 95 but close to downtown, as well as neighborhoods in the Villages of West Palm Beach, which is West of the turnpike as well.

The gangs? I just remember hearing how bad gangs got out there (no particular race). A friend of mine joined one b/c he was young and stupid. He got out when he wised up, and I remember he was nervous about seeing them again. He stayed out of the front of RPB.

Well I never seen street gangs hustlin on the corners or drive by's out there. It's obviously not the number one problem out there. There other places in Palm Beach where they are more prominent than the Acreage. The areas TriMT17 talk about is basically the historic district and probaly the oldest neighborhood in West Palm. They deffinetely have different architectury found no where else in Palm Beach Co. But if your looking for lots of land the only other area would be Jupiter farms to the north. It's farther from downtown than the Acreage and Loxahtchee. It very hard in any city to find large land plots and close to the city. Congrats of your confirmation.

I asked a family member of mine today, just to confirm. He lived out there until graduating H.S. He said absolutely there was gang activity. He said ppl used to hang out at the b-ball court and not even play b-ball, but they were looking for trouble a lot.
He recalled a couple drive-by shootings actually. And when we were young, stuff like this wasnt even an issue. Now? It's an issue. I'm not saying ppl are walking around scared, but ppl are definitely aware.

Wow! So I gotta ask then what gangs are in the Acreage? With your resources you think it's a problem like in Lake Worth, or eastern Lantana and Boynton?

No, this is a summer job in WPB. Then I go back to school in August and come back for next summer. Hopefully, after I graduate I will be getting a job permanently in WPB.
Assuming of course, that the state doesn't have a hiring freeze at that time.
