Does anyone have experience with Addison Mizner's Gifted program?

I found a house to rent w/i walking distance of Del Prado, but I'm really not sold on leaving the beach area.

I can stay on the beach and my child would be shuttled to Addison Mizner's "gifted ESE" program, but I can't find anything about it.

Or is it better to leave "well enough alone" and let the kid enjoy not knowing what an FCAt is and being montessori-ized further despite the availability of Boca's gifted programs?

Money is not really the issue here. . . I'm really trying to figure out what is best for a very bright and very sensitive little kid who has known nothing but me and montessori. He would be going into second grade.

I can't add specifics but I can give a general response. My daughter was in Montessori at two different schools and thrived. She is now in public school in Boca and doing well but there is certainly room for improvement;she is not gifted. There is no right or wrong answer for your situation. I would choose the option that works for the entire family. If your son is in a happy home and has friends then he will do fine.

Wish I saw this sooner -hope you are still watching. Florida has a choice school program. I live in east Boca, in an excellent school district, and my child is gifted, yet I chose to put her in SD Spady a public Montessori school in east Delray. You have to apply via the lottery. Deadline is 12/18/09. My daughter was in Montessori preschool and I liked the idea of keeping her in Montessori. Bear in mind it is a public school and still subject to FCAT so it is a modified Montessori, but all teachers are Montessori trained and the school abides by Montessori philosphy as much as possible given that they have to take FCATS.

Having been in Addison Mizner's gifted program all six years, I can speak from personal experience. The teachers are warm and caring, and you receive an education. You don't have to worry about FCAT until 3rd grade, and it isn't the end of the world. I had plenty of friends, and got straight "A"s throughout. The parents and children aren't snobby and are down-to-earth. I succeeded in middle school and high school because of my education at Addision Mizner.

Hi bocamom, what did you decide? can you share your experience with me. I am the mother of two boys trying to decide between moving to a better school district or sending my kids to montessori. Summit or Claremont?
