Default Which area is better - Pompano Beach, Deerfield Beach, or Delray Beach?

My Fiance and I are planning to rent an apartment for 6 months to 1 year, while we find a house to buy. We are in our 50's. We would like to be by the beach. If anyone can help us by giving us a few of their favorite apartment complexes, with a pool. That would be helpful.
Also does anyone have an opinion about living in Pompano Beach, Deerfield Beach, or Delray Beach?
Thank you very much.

For a retiree, western Delray or Deerfield, for a younger professional, around downtown Delray, for a nice coastal area at a relatively good price, eastern Deerfield, and I wouldn't recommend Pompano to anyone. Deerfield and Delray both have some bad pockets as well.

pompano is not for everyone. my ex girlfriend called it the redneck riviera and was afraid around here.

but if you are flat on the beach here to enjoy looking out at your pool and ton of water, lighthouse, boats, etc. . . swim in the pool and LOOK at the beach what's not to like? the price is half as much as boca or delray. my apartment would be over 3k a month in boca and more like 5k on palm beach, and as much in delray as boca, but here you can get all that beach for $1600

there is a great restaurant (cafe max) on atlantic and several ethnic and bar type eateries that are good

beach traffic is really easy to navigate. there's a public right over the bridge on atlantic.

the buildings are mostly renovated with hurricane glass and nice lobbies with live guards, good pools, soem have tennis and such

i'm having a hard time leaving, as i look at what i can get for the money in west boca, east boca, the good part of west palm, palm beach, etc. . . and my place is, dollar for dollar, a steal in pompano

I heard Delray has a nice downtown. Where are you now? Why those 3 areas?
