Hi everyone, I'm moving to the lake worth area and had an eye on a townhouse in the Lake Worth rd, Jog rd, Melaleuca Ln area just east of the turnpike.

An insight on this area? Good, bad or worse?

Decent area, might be better off going a little south or north of there. Are you looking at Seminole Palms? There's some good deals in there in the 120-170 range. There's some real nice new townhomes a mile or two south of there. There's only three left in the complex though. They're more towards the 180-200 range.
If you have any questions let me know.

Thanks for the info, in all actuality the townhouse is already in the family. I was hearing mixed feedback about the area turning bad over the past year or so.. I'm really worried about that.

I was just in that area visiting family over the weekend. I know exactly the location as my family is right off Jog & Melaleuca. I think the area's ok. I hit up all the shopping malls on the four corners there as well as took a fast look around on Forest Hill, on the way into Lake Worth...I wanted to go south on Jog but didn't have the time. Will do it next on next month's trip.

I did return from a drive to Juno Beach on Friday night & stopped to get a beer at a gas station right on Lake Worth, west of Jog. There was a drug deal going on in the parking lot; however, that's everywhere these days...

Took mom to a bunch of pawn shops on Lake Worth Rd. east of Jog on Saturday...sometimes you can tell what's going on in town by what's in the pawn shops....I thought prices were high, compared to what I'm used to in the Sarasota/Bradenton area. Palm Beach post said unemployment was at 13 & climbing...similar to the same S/B feel.

Again, need to explore a bit more but as far as I can tell, it seemed safe enough for mom (83) and everything was pretty close in regards to shopping/restaurants. Very quiet area. Mom's in a 55+ area there and you could hear a pin drop.

I think that the easy access to the ocean combined with the sleepy town feeling would be fine. Another consideration is employment & the commuting/time factor.

Not really keen on the area myself. Better neighborhoods in more western Lake Worth or further east near the Intercoastal. If you keep the property you shouldn't have any problem renting it.
