Delray Beach
I am interested in a condo located in Huntington Lakes in Delray Beach on Ashford Pl. Does anyone here have any information that they would like to share on this neighborhood/area of Delray Beach? Thank you!

I am not familiar with that area but I know there are some good parts of Delray and some not so good parts. Are you in FL or moving from out of state? If from out of state I would encourage you to drive around the area you are looking. Where I came from it was way different that if the complex of a place was nice and in a good city the miles around were good. In FL it can be a bad neighborhood very close by. I am not saying that about Delray but just a thought. I heard they have a cute downtown and I know my grandparents rented a place in Delray and it was super nice but it is over 55 I think cause I called on them. Good luck

It appears to be located in western Delray, north of Atlantic, south of Lake Ida, just east of Hagen Ranch Road.
I believe it is a quiet and relatively safe area, you probably could describe it as retiree heaven, and it is likely that the subdivision is a 55 and older community.
Atlantic Avenue is a very convenient transportation (ramps to both the Turnpike and 95) and shopping corridor (from Home Depot to fresh produce stands), and downtown Delray Beach and the beach itself are not very far, about 15 minutes on a clear road or a bit longer with traffic lights and traffic.

It is a 55 and over community, and if that's what you are looking for, then you will enjoy living there.
they have a beautiful clubhouse and a lot of activities...the area is nice, quiet, you have a pretty new
Publix nearby, some restaurants and a small movie theater on Hagen Ranch and Atlantic. Banks, drug
stores, etc. you would be about 4 to 5 miles from the beach straight down Atlantic Ave...You would also be close to the turnpike entrance. Good luck

I am not sure if it is in a similar price range but the condo that my grandparents had which I looked into but they said it was 55 and over was Gleneagels. It was super nice and a good/safe location. Just thought if you wanted to be in Delray you may want to see about those and price range. It had a young and new feels but that was 20 years ago but I enjoyed going there as a kid and we walked to local things like the market

If you go to searchlikeapro.listingbook.com, it's free to join, just pull up the property you like and then hit community info. Hope that answers some of your questions.

Gleneagles is beautiful, gated, but it's a "country club community" and you must post a fee to live there,
Right now prices are great on units, but the initiation fee is ? not sure about that, and I believe you must
spend a certain amt. of $$$ every year at the club dining room..If you are a golfer, play tennis and entertain a lot then this might be the place for you.

I own a condo in a community that borders Huntington Lakes. You didn't mention age but Huntington Lakes is a 55+ community (as is most of this area) and due to the fact it was built back in the 70's the average age of the residents there is 70-80. There are many other communities in this area of West Delray including a few with no age restrictions and many newer 55+ developments with a lower average age. Overall it is a very nice, safe area. Many good inexpensive restaurants and 10 min. from downtown Delray. There is a lot of future development planned for the area. Right now the prices are very low compared to a couple of years ago and should be a good investment.

I think you are right about the dining and a certain amount. I remember them saying that when they lived there. I think many country club communities are like that. The montly fees or I think you call them HOA in these places are unreal. I was told though it was over 55 there so I did not know if they give better pricing.

Delray Boca border
I live on the northern Delray-Boca border, east of Federal Highway, and the crime here is evident. We live in a guard gated community & our car was stolen and set on fire on New Year's Day. When we moved in everyone told us how safe the neighborhood was but later we found out the truth. I'm from the small town of Stuart, Florida and we have very little crime there, so I was shocked when the police called us up and told us our new Lexus SUV was torched. The criminal also found enough information in the vehicle to commit ID theft and made off with well over $20,000 from forged checks he created somehow.

To be honest, all South East Florida (Dade, Broward & Palm Beach County) is extremely crime ridden. Most of the folks here are so used to the crime that they think it is normal. They say the crime is the same everywhere else but I know it's not, because I've lived a lot of other safe places.
