highland beach - hazards? foreclosures? water quality?
i am looking to make an offer on a condo (rental) in highland beach, south of the Toscana. Is there anything I should know about the area? There is a slight stink of rotten mangroves and i called environmental resource management to make sure there is no fumigant being released there for mosquitos, etc., and i went to the water tower and got a printout of the water quality that i have absolutely no idea how to read, and other than that i can't think of anything i should check.
is there something in particular i can do to ascertain that a private owner is not going into foreclosure? the unit requires a hefty deposit.

Mangroves have a particular smell to them because they accumulate peat, which eventually oxidizes and releases sulfur compounds within the peat material.
In regards to finding if the owner is going into foreclosure, go to the Clerk of the Court website and search for the owners name. This will tell you if any liens or notice of lis pendens have been filed against the owner.

right-o, what i was afraid of is the mosquito potential, in a year like this, they might decide to fumigate the land by boat. i was a bridge tender at the bridge to the south of the property, in boca, and they did it there. i once called the coast guard because i thought the boat was on fire.
but no, it was filling my air, my 17 yr old lungs filled with that death air, with the sweet smell of xenoestrogens. no emergency, takes about 15 to 20 years for that to start showing. . .
i don't want that next door, if in fact, they still do it.

That's just awful! It must affect your life in so many ways.....from things like being able to walk distances all the way down to being able to enjoy things like being able to taste or smell a nice pizza.........
