where to live in palm beach county thats close to IAMP
Hello I am planning on moving to Palm Beach County in January for school. I am looking to attend IAMP in Delray Beach for Ultrasound. I have been searching on craigslist for places to live and would like to know which areas to look into. I have been considering Boca, Delray, Boynton Beach and Palm Beach Gardens. I really like Midtown in PBG but I'm concerned about the commute, I've heard the traffic is bad. What's really important to me is safety, I don't want to feel unsafe walking from my car into my apartment. I also want a nice looking place and I'm a sucker for kitchens! I am looking to rent and don't want to pay more then 1200 a month, which I know seems impossible for what I'm looking for in South Florida. I was also looking into the Renaissance Commons in Boynton, but heard it's not the best area. How is downtown Boca? If anyone could help and let me know which areas are safe and close to my school or if it's worth making the commute from PBG? Also if anyone has any feedback on the Ultrasound program at IAMP would be helpful too. Thanks so much!!

I live in Boca but not downtown so I am not familiar with that. I pay under that and live in a gated country club community. I feel very safe. It can take awhile to find though. When I was here in the winter I went to so many places and called around and there were huge ranges of prices. In season it was more limited too so FYI. Where do you live now? When I went to school but in MI I had a very long commute and after awhile it took a toll. It made for very long days and if there was an accident it really made it ruff. Plus I always had to leave extra early in case. I am not sure how long your school program and how many days a week so that would impact my choice if this is many days or long term. People have said here that Delray has a cute downtown. I had family that lived in Delray and it was really nice but there are some bad areas. Have you looked on craigslist or realtor.com? That I would suggest.

The Institute of Allied Medical Professionsals I think is IAMP. It is college for medical type career training.
I am in Boca West Country Club and you go through private owners not a management company. I am not that familiar with the parts of Boca.I have heard Mizner Park is nice and has cute shops and restaurants I have been to. A few places I was suggested in Boca to look at but did not was Boca Teeca,Boca Point,St Andrews.
I did a long drive 5 days a week for awhile. For the first month it was ok but after that I wished I had lived closer. The days seemed endless. This school too seems like it is for awhile. Where are you now?

I like the Renaissance area... I'm actually moving there next month. I won't be moving in the actual complex, but the area around it has some nice complexes and is a decent area. Gateway Palms on Lawerance and Gateway is a nice gated community where you should be able to get a 2/2 around 1200. Downtown West Palm wouldn't be too bad either.
Drive around and look for yourself the convenience there is really nice.

I live in Palm Beach Gardens but one of our offices is in Delray. It is a DRIVE! It's about 40 minutes. I don't know how often you will be in school but it may be tough to handle on a daily basis. I'm not there every day so I don't mind the drive. Also, I've been here long enough that I can practically predict the traffic patterns from Palm Beach down to Miami. You tend to know which areas get congested and at what time it happens.
Being new to the area, you're better off moving closer to your school. After you live here for a while (and you've figured out what your day to day life will be like), you may feel more comfortable making those long commutes.
Anyway, the location that I work in (when I'm in Delray) seems nice- I'm not very familiar with the entire area but I've heard both positive and some negatives things. There's a stretch of apartment communities along military and atlantic ave. I haven't seen much except drive by them but that might be a place to start.
Hopefully someone else reading this will know more about this area and share some info with you.
BTW, when I first moved to PBG, I rented a 1 bedroom (less than 1000 sq. feet) for almost $1100 a month. This area is not cheap!
