May be you should take your phone # off and just get relies through the email that it goes to through craigslist and then craigslist emails you. That way you can screen the responses. That is what I have done in the past.

Just to let everyone know my cat Inky was hit by a car and killed not even half a mile from my house. I had registered him lost with Boynton Animal Control and got a voicemail but not in time to actually go there and view him. But, Liz, who is awesome who works there, told me he had all white paws but a black spot on his left rear paw. I know it was him. My heart is still broken. All I can say to all cat owners is to keep them inside and microchip them. I TRIED to keep Inky inside but he got out by mistake and my own carelessness. Poor baby was only 15 months old. Thanks to all who responded to my ad and hope someone benefits from this truly sad outcome.

You have my condolences. Your pets are a part of your family and you grieve for them as such.

Thanks. Every day I have to go by the intersection where he was killed and it's very hard. Good luck to you also in getting out of Florida.

So sorry. My heart goes out to you. This is why I keep my Kitty indoors. Got her when she was 3, she is now 17...and you wouldn't know it lol.
I have lost Cats the same way as you in the past, it can be avoided.

Really sorry when I read what you posted here its a real shame.

My son came home with a three week old kitten last week. This little kitten was found in tire well area of his friends car. He had drove from the school for a mile and heard crying, stopped the car and two hours later they fished it out.
As it turns out this little baby somehow managed to get in there and not get killed. It is amazing that it never died.
I hated the thought of her going to a shelter to be put down so I said "bring her home" when my son called to tell me.
We now have four dogs, two cats, two birds and my horse.
My Pomeranian is loving this kitty like her own little baby. It is a very sweet sight to see.
All I can say to you is go and adopt another baby, there are so many poor cats, kittens that need good homes in over stocked shelters all over the country.

I really want to do that. I see no other way to get past this overwhelming sadness. I just hope Inky doesn't think it means I am replacing him - all animals are unique and have their own personalities. He was just gorgeous and a true handful - the feline Marly of the movie "Marley and Me." and yet he was as gentle with my dog as any cat could possibly be. My dog really misses him as well. He just deserved to live out a full life and he didn't. He used to sit in my computer chair and my dog puts her paws up on it and looks for him. She also sits in his spot in front of the sliding glass door in the living room which she never did before.

Inky is not being replaced, he is at the rainbow bridge.

Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.

When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge.
There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together.
There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.

All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor; those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by.
The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.

They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent; His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.

You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.

Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together....

Author unknown...

Inky also lives on in the memories that you have of him and since you had so much love for him, your heart is open to love again.
Go ahead and start your healing of bringing home another baby to love.
It really is the best way animals need our love so much and WE need the unconditional love in which they give back. It is a win win situation for both of you.

I am so sorry for your loss. Your pet would want you to be happy and the pet you bring it to your home will not replace your cat but give you other joys and love. You always carry the memories and love in your heart.
SKB that is a lovely writing on the rainbow bridge.
