Hi there,

First question to ask is, "what's your price range?"

Just about anywhere in Jupiter/Palm Beach Gardens is great, and I highly recommend it! I can give you more specific info on "North County" locations if you'd like (again, price is a major consideration!)

If you want to be "closer to the action" downtown in a single family home, it looks like you would want to buy in one of the historic neighborhoods South of Okeechobee Blvd. If you are well heeled, I would recommend the El Cid neighborhood, or "SoSo" (South of Southern). It's a bit pricey though!

Stay "downtown" in and around Cityplace (South of about Banyan) for condo and you should be fine crime-wise. Do NOT buy or rent in Northwood! The vast majority of the violent crime is centered in Northwood and North into Riviera Beach area. If you notice, "Atlanta" is high up on the list of crime, yet it's one of the fastest growing areas in the country. Crime is everwhere, and if you just know where to avoid, you can

Maybe you could look into renting for a year downtown maybe to explore Palm Beach County a bit? Who knows, prices might come down even more!

And just because there are no shootings at Sunfest does not make the city safe, and I dont see what Sunfest has to do with anything as people from all over come to Sunfest. One event does not represent the city at all.

In fact beyond "DONALD'S CONDOS" in City Place if you walk just a little north of them 5 minutes you will find yourself in a ghetto, so that proves you really dont know what you're talking about. Donald does not care about the crime rates of a city (HE CARES ABOUT ONE THING: $$$$), and West Palm Beach is a good example of poor urban sprawl as well and the crime rates are going up so I do not see how it is improving.

Also I know someone in law enforcement who works in the West Palm Beach area and they say that the crime is so bad that they are going to find a new job, that is coming from someone in law enforcement in Palm Beach County for over 30 years.

I would not just spew out this crap if it wasent true. I have lived here for many years and it's never been a worse time to live in West Palm Beach than now, unless of course you are very wealthy, live out west or live directly in city place.

You have a right to your opinion............. you're wrong......... but you have the right to you're opinion.

Trump Tower is nowhere near city place.

Comptin (east L.A.) is not at all LESS dangerous than West Palm.

If homes in your neighborhood have bars on the windows you do NOT live in an "average" W.P.B. neighborhood.

And lastly............... If one has a good education and/or a good job West Palm is a great place to live. (no offence intended to PBC BOY)

west palm is a dump minus a few neighborhoods. city place/clematis st party area is surrounded by some of the nations worst ghettos. i wouldnt go near that area night. forget wpb, ship has sunk there....try palm beach gardens north of pga blvd or jupiter otherwise stay out of south florida all together. in 10 years or less the tri county area will be one big banana republic, look out when castro dies....get out before its too late or better off dont move here in the first place...comprende?

the key to buying or renting places in south florida is to wait till its hot, humid and the snowbirds have all gone home. then you get an honest look at what the neighborhood is like. chances are at that point you wont be wanting to move here.

You're not an experienced person, I bet you think that Sound Advice is in the city of West Palm Beach. Guess what buddy? It's in an unincorporated western area of town. Is Opa Locka,FL, quite possibly the worst area of Dade County, safe as well because they held the super bowl there? No! But by your logic it is since they hold it there. Obviously if it's the 7th most dangerous city in the country it is NOT a good place to live, and the crime rates and my personal experience prove it. Gang problems and numerous other issues plague West Palm Beach
and if you want a good area to live I would recommend Palm Beach Gardens instead, if you have the cash... The best WPB neighborhoods are in the unincorporated sections and the wealthy sections... and I did NOT have to put bars on my windows until a few years ago, and don't you dare say I'm not educated, I grew up poor and worked myself to where I am now and I don't need someone who knows nothing about me to tell me I'm not educated.

In 2004, the third and fifth most dangerous zip codes in Florida were 33407 and 33404.

These neighborhoods, again, are in the "North end" of West Palm Beach (Northwood neighborhood) and in Riviera Beach.

Sound Advice? Do you mean the amphitheatre way out west or the store on the corner of Palm Beach Lakes and Okeechobee Blvd.?

Sun Fest was held downtown on Flagler Drive. all five days of the festival. People walked through the streets of West Palm Beach to and from there cars that were parked all over the downtown area. All of the bands from rap, soul, country, reggae, oldies, blues etc. played on stages that were downtown. There were no reported muggings, shootings, or robberies during Sunfest.

Anyway, I'm sorry to hear that you have bars on your windows too. You didn't say that before. No wonder you hate West Palm so much.

There are MANY neighborhoods that are great and there is not a need nor do families have bars on there windows. Most are east of I 95 and South of Okeechobee Blvd. But there are others as well.

The reason these areas are nice is that people care about their neighborhoods and call the police when they see suspicious activity on their streets. Which is rare. Often I return home in the early hours of the morning and I never see suspicious activity anywhere on the streets. Again, I stay out of the known "bad" areas. Every city has these sections that no matter what is done the drug dealers and prostitutes tear it down again.

By the way, I am an experienced person. In many, many things.

I don't live in a slum neighborhood, I live in a middle class neighborhood that was just fine until a few years ago. The crime wave if affecting many parts of the city. Just because there are good neighborhoods doesn't mean the entire city is good, as I would say the majority of the city is pretty bad, NOT just the northern sections. Even areas you don't hear about, such as the HUGE stretch near the airport, sections off Clematis st., north of city place, Palm Beach Lakes blvd, etc. and I can go on and on. Also the surrounding cities near it are bad as well - Palm Springs, Lake Worth, Greenacres, Riviera Beach. Also read the crime in the newspaper, on the news, etc. A Check Cashing store just got robbed. And just because a big event is held in the city doesn't mean crime will occur, Dolphin Stadium is in the worst area of Dade and the super bowl was there yet there was no crime.
