Hi everyone- need to relocate for work to S. Florida. My wife and I have two daughters under the age of five. Obviously, schools and safety are extremely important. We can live anywhere between Port St. Lucie and Miami. Depending on how long it takes for us to sell our house just outside Atlanta, we will probably rent a single family home first, and then buy next summer.

We would appreciate any insight at all.....thanks!

Jupiter, Tequesta, Abacoa and Palm Beach Gardens are nice communities in the northern part of the county. Schools are good, excellent sports programs for children (soccer, baseball, softball etc.), lots of nice parks, and gorgious beaches. There is still a small town feel to the area, and parents are involved in the schools as well as the sports activities. The areas are safe and the crime rate is low. Both I-95 and Florida Turnpike are close by. Abacoa has a downtown area, a baseball stadium (spring training games) has beautiful communities surrounding it, has bike trails and a green area and is actually part of Jupiter.

Not knowing what your price point is; it is hard to recommend a specific community. But there is a large range of homes, Jupiter and Tequesta have some neighborhoods of older but still very nice homes that are not in HOA's as does Palm Beach Gardens. But there are also newer homes and HOA communities.

I have lived in this area for about 30 years and raised a family here.

Boca Raton and Delray Beach are further south - has some beautiful communities - I am not as familiar with that area. Delray has a downtown area, is close to the beach and the community has alot of family orienated events every year.
Wellington is west of West Palm Beach and also has some very nice areas and many of the communities have been built within the last 10 years or so.

Be careful of some areas of West Palm Beach, Lake Park, Lake Worth, Riviera Beach and Boynton Beach.

Best of luck with your move.
