We arrived late Monday night and will be staying with a friend in Lake Worth until I find a job and a home to rent. Yesterday we did some running around-

Had lunch is a small Cuban restaurant on Southern Blvd. First time that my GD had a real Cuban sandwich. We want to try other latino places- any suggestions are appreciated.....small and authentic places that one might not even notice when driving by.

Macy's @ City Place for the gift with purchase on Lancome Of course, we had to walk around City Place and tried not to drool at the sight of all the gorgeous things in the shops or act too much like yokels.

Saw a guy holding a "$15 haircut" sign on US 1 in Lantana and did the unthinkable- I pulled in and got a cut and color. I have short hair and have to say that is was a great cut- every bit as good as the one I paid $65 for in Jax. I will be back and consider it a good sign that I found an excellent hairdresser by such a fluke.

Then we went to Lake (Av.?) in Lake Worth. What a cute downtown area. Had dinner at an Irish pub and stumbled upon an improv class in progress inside a small, old theater. It was all ages and seemed like it would be a great way to have fun together with my teens.

Our heads are spinning with all the places to explore, but first things first... today I will ramp up my job search and cruise the neighborhood that I like in Boca looking for rental homes.

I've been away from south Florida for almost ten years and do not remember lizards being so big when we lived in NE Broward. Not talking iguanas..... I've seen two other kinds that are 6-12" long... now I know how newbies feel about roaches and alligators- both of which I am used to. I can't see myself rescuing the "lizzies" brought inside by my cat by scooping them up with my hand like I did in Jacksonville. My skin is crawling just thinking about them.....

Other good Latin restaurants (that I like, others have differing opinions), include:

Havana Hideaway (Cuban - downtown - Lake Worth)
Don Ramon (Cuban - WPB - S. Dixie and Clematis)
Cabanas (Latin Fusion - WPB - Clematis)
Aleydas (Mexican, WPB - Okeechobee Blvd.)
Arepera (Venezuelan - Clematis)

I also like Cantina Laredo in Palm Beach Gardens for corporate Mexican with friends who aren't very adventurous, lol!
