The casino has already brought some things that have not been made public yet as there are about 10 approved building permits which will begin construction shortly as well as three hotel permits waiting to be approved which is expected to be a non issue....especially after how packed the hotels have been the past week.
MD only has slots and those have yet to open or are facing new issues. Ohio just approved casinos in four major cities (Cleveland, Toledo, Cincinnati, and Columbus) with them opening in 2012. PA has just opened their table games locations but the closest is still further from DC than C'Town is. What I am getting at is that as long as C'Town has Table Games and the MD casinos don't then the majority of DC business will flow to WV (esp. Hollywood Casino at C'Town Races)

Of course, until Maryland allows them which they will.

Still would get all of suburban Northern VA and some of MD. Friend of mine went over to play Poker the other night and there was a 100+ person waiting list to get on a table.

Can you say who/what these building permits are for?

As for Maryland being any competition for Charles Town...it isn't going to be any time soon..they have been dragging their feet for a very long time just to get slots going..and not the first one is open for business..table games? forget it.. So...Marylanders will still be rolling in ..(in droves)..to Charles Town for the forseeable future.

The hotel in the clubhouse turn plan was one of the first ideas WAY before they built the one on the other corner near Sheetz so we might see another one there. I bet a lot of stuff including a show style theater is aimed for the old Shenandoah Downs property.

Everything is GREAT....well, almost!
Okay, so the Table Games are here and in mid-swing....still have some more dealers to hire but we have the tables open 24/7, Poker Room is 24/7 and Hotel is at capacity every weekend...just about. I truly am glad this place is taking a turn for the best. Although we may not be Atlantic City nor Vegas, we also don't have many of the "city" problems they have and I for one think that's a great trade off. I love my job, the people I work with are all very friendly. I've been coming here as a patron for over 10 years. Although, now that I am employed by the casino I cannot gamble, it gives me much greater pleasure to know that the casino is having such great "positive" impacts on the town and surrounding areas.
They donate alot of money to local charities, the took over the Parks and Recreation board of Jefferson County so they would still have a place for kids and people to enjoy. They are now in charge of "Meals on Wheels" so the seniors get meals everyday...just on and on. I'm truly glad to be employed by the Casino.

What do you mean when you say that the track "took over the Parks and Recreation Board"?

Parks and Recreation Board
I believe they took it over "financially"...If not, they donate most of the money so it remains open for the county.

I'm sure it will be full of people. Many people likes gambling and I don't know why, base on what I've observed, gambling brings so much fun to each individual.
