Someone told me that in Berkeley County you can send your kids to any school as long as you provide the transportation. Anyone know if this is true or not? If it is, wouldn't the good schools get over crowded? Speaking of good schools, any suggestions on where you would or wouldn't want your kid to go to school? Thanks!

Spring Mills/Hammonds Mill/Falling Waters area in north Berkeley County has all brand-new schools with a new high school on the way. At this point the elementary and middle schools at Spring Mills feed Hedgesville HS. Your question about school-choice-by-transportation sounds suspect, but commuters comprise half the population, so I guess it's not impossible. But a quick call to the school board office would be my recommendation. But, overall, I'd recommend the Spring Mills-Hammonds Mill area.

Under the federal No Child Left Behind law, students attending a Title I school designated as “in need of improvement” have the right to attend a higher performing school in the district.
