It is common knowledge, but unfortunately I dont have digital sources. The newspaper here, and magazines dealing with WV constantly run articles and cites the facts. In fact the economist ran an article on this very issue a few years ago. It comes up every and now and then so ill keep an eye out next time the subject comes up and scan the copy to CD. Had I known I would have kept the supporting data, but ill be around this board for the long so dont worry you will get your data.

Very simple, no he doesn't!

everything that comes out of posts are inaccurate and opinion. He said that northern WV contribures way more than southern, but he forgets about the coal industry which is the largest tax revenue base for the state period! There is more coal mining in southern WV, than in northern WV and PA combined! Southern WV pays its dews, so no more crap on that! Southern WV also has terrible infrastructure, and bad schools. Morgantown and NCWV on the other hand seem to do just fine, and its not because they payed for it themselves!

Actually, everything I have said is true. Had I known I would be in this situation I would have collected all the proof over the years. I really doubt you save magazines, newspapers, and remember every online article you read. Ask CTMountaineer everyone knows about how underfunded NCWV is. The problem with Southern WV is the companies are so corrupt and all the money goes out of state from there. NCWC, especially Morgantown, built itself off Capitalism and hard work, unlike Charleston and southern WV, which are built off kleptocracy, socialism, hand outs, and corruption.

I don't think anyone here made a huge deal out of it.

The local HD officials have been getting slammed big time around here. They are a bit out of control drunk on power.

This is a seperate issue but they've had people arrested for allowing smoking in their establishments. A very stupid reaction to the new health laws. A fine? O.K. But really, arrested?

"Through West Virginia state code, the health department can make their own rules and regulations," he said. "The role of the health department is to vigorously enforce the regulations they give."

During the special meeting, Ford voiced her displeasure with the health department for enforcing a mass gathering fee of $38.50 to the Williamstown Volunteer Fire Department during the 67th annual ice cream social on Friday night.

"The city is very, very, very distraught by it and rightfully so," Ford said. "I've never known somebody to have to take money out of a till from the fire department to pay, in cash and without a receipt.

"I think the health department needs to concentrate on what they were created for than to harass a little town like Williamstown," she added.

Couch, who is president of the health department's board, said he will take up the issue at the next board meeting.

This is all I can find on the Williamstown Fire Dept and the Health Dept. Is there more to it than this?

This was copied from an article in the Parkersburg News this week.

I do feel it is ridiculous to charge volunteer groups anything for fund-raising activities.

I haven't found out whether they got one or not yet. Not way this can be legit.
So let me get this straight... they were forced to hand over money to some dickh*ad without getting a receipt for it? That has to be against the law somehow.

In Morgantown, they are planning for a Brad Paisley concert at the football stadium and want to put 7,000 additional seats on the field itself. There is absolutely nothing that can burn at Mountaineer Field... nothing, yet they are being hassled by the Fire Marshall who says so many seats would impede people from self evacuating in case of fire. That is the intelligence of the sorts of people Charleston is hiring these days.

Haven't seen a word about the VFD fine in the local newspapers or on the tv. The arrest of the bar employee for the patrons smoking was well covered.

Seems very suspect having to pay the fine on the spot. Even if the money went where it was supposed to, it doesn't sound like proper procedure at all.

I've heard people comment that the man in charge of the MOVHD lives in Ohio and somehow lost a similar position in Washington county Ohio.

I can't believe Charleston would hire such an idiot. Come on Charleston!
