What are your state delegates/senators (the ones elected to represent NCWV or your county) doing about it? Have you voiced your concerns to them?
This is an interesting topic, i would like to know if there has been anything in the media about this as well. If you can link a story from the paper or tv news on here that would be very helpful.

As far as the state goes, they claim to have a surpluss. Of course, it is easy to have a surpluss if you aren't doing anything.

Cross Lanes is backed up every hour of the day! It is one of the worst road designs in Charleston, and the traffic makes it hard to access the Nitro Marketplace shopping center. Wher I go to WV State, I often drive up there for lunch. Sometimes I'm late getting back to class because of it, and its only 2 miles away.
Surpluss is great, but it doesn't mean that we have the cash for everything. It just means we were able to pay all of our bills, and had a little left over.

Maybe if Morgantown would create a plan, they might get funding. I mean come on, they just don't give out money for general purposes. The state acts like a bank, if you want a loan (in this case a grant) you have to prove to the "bank you want it bad enough!

WV has machine style politics. There is a Central-Southern WV bloc that work together to make sure only they receive funds. They are losing power since people are moving out of those areas and NCWV is growing.

When Charleston gives us money we will have some great plans. There is no point in making a plan if the bank is going to say, "sorry you are too North in WV. Move your city closer to Charleston and we will talk."

Well, it's strange then, because I've been there and have not noticed anything like the traffic situation we have here.
If you've been in Monongalia in recent years and have heard them talk about "surplusses", you know if they do have any money left after padding their own
pocketbooks and those of their political cronies, it is because they are taking our money and sitting on their duffs doing nothing. Photo Op gave himself
and his cronie commissioners hefty pay raises while he stiffed state workers with a $500 per year handout.

"Photo Op Joe" was from NCWV so I don't see how cry-havoc feels that it is a southern WV thing. And last time I checked, I believe our state workers make next to nothing anyways. $500 per year is a slap in the face!
And you can drive on Golf Mountain Road in Cross Lanes and go from Wlagreens to McDonalds (1/2 mile) in about 10mins. The Exit itself is a real mess with the lanes that turn into turning lanes onto the hiighway. There needs to be a new exit next to the casino that would extend the 4 lane from the dog track across the interstate into the fast growing areas between Poca and CL.

Photo Op basically sold out his region (and his alma mater) in self interest and to buy into the state political machine. He figured building that road in
Fairmont was taking care of NCWV, but that was about the least thing we needed here. Don't get me wrong, it's nice, but it is special interest group priorities and politics. Have you ever seen him work a crowd. If he spots a camera, he will work his way clear across a big room to get in front of it. It's an amazing thing to see. I think he learned that from his Uncle A. James.
No offense to your Casino traffic, but our issues affect virtually our entire town here. We have long been neglected by state government. There have been plans galore, but the real money has always been largely allocated to areas with much less demonstrated need... places that are actually losing population and jobs and the like. Our special interest group politicos (mostly focused in your neck of the woods) have long espoused the create demand model as opposed to the respond to demand model that logic would dictate. It's one of the reasons the state is always fighting it out for last place with Mississippi and often winning.

Sorry but it doesn't work like that. I want you guys to get the money you need, but if you don't have a plan that organizes the money that is needed then you probably won't get it.
And you saying that "you are too north" crap is really childish. The only political machine we have here in WV is the relationship between the University and the state house.

That just isn't so, and I suspect you know that in spite of your youth. The real political machine in WV is controlled by big money energy interests (the Rockefellers, coal barons, and UMWA), and a disproportionate portion of that is spread out in the southern sector. The new gas discoveries will change that dynamic to a large degree, but it will take a couple decades for that to happen.
They have had plans in place here for some time to deal with the traffic mess on state highways, as well as to complete I68 to Moundsville and WV2 from Moundsville to Huntington. The politicos always shove them aside in favor of road work there, even though that area is actually losing population and industry overall, as has been the case for decades now.
