Co.commissioners Rape & Pillage In Parkersburg (news , company)

In this BUSH era where you blatenly destroy the air quality and the natural envirorment(thru logging & oil companies) all in the name of special interest deals.... This situation is playing itself out in Parkersburgh today.Anyone who has ever been to Mountwood Park in Wood Co. knows of it's beautiful lake,30 miles of hiking trails,shooting range, picnic shelters and conferance center.
The Co. Commissioners plan on logging the whole park. They might as well have a coal co. come in and flat top all the hill tops. It's would be just as devastating. A older growth forest like whats in the park should be preserved for future generations, not exploted and pillaged for fast cash.
Some of the commissioners will benefit monitarily ($$$$$$) . Like ownership of the logging co.to strip the park. Then after they destroy the woodlands, they plan on building horse trails with dozers only because they can get a $400,000. grant for it. The horse people were kicked out of North Bend State park because of all the trail damage and errosion they caused!! The lake needs to be dredged due to accumulated silt. The lake will probably fill in due to the logging and horse projects.
So again lets destroy Mountwood in the name of money. Then they have a plan to build log cabins. Again they've indicated the building contract will be an associate of a commissioner. The Parkersburg News is at these meetings, but only report want the Commissioners want to be reported.As a long time user of the park, all this SICKENS me, and it should you too!!!!!

I had to laugh. Not at you or your comments...but your eyes are being opened to the sickening reality of what we have elected as leaders here in West Virginia. Welcome to the REAL West Virginia.

In no ones brain does a plan for the future exist...no 5 year plan..no 20 year plan...no 100 year plan.
Some companies have them...Mercedes/Benz is one to mention...Massey Energy...Consol Energy...they can show you where they want their company to be in 10 or 20 years..

Why wouldn't we want to do that with the public trust?

Call or e-mail the city park system of Portland, Oregon and ask them how they manage those wonderful stands of old growth that dot their city landscape. Only the dead trees are ever removed...It's like heaven to walk in those living giants and smell their breath...
Our only remnant of old growth lies in Aurora, WV and protected by deed. Sadly, the only bit of forest of an entire state..
This is your land...your country and if you don't get involved it WILL be a flat space of wasteland...and you will have failed your generation too...Its about the money...Its always about the money...
