Smile WV Trying to Catch Up

A good article about how WV is slowly making the changes needed to compete effeciently with the rest of the states. Maybe in the future WV will be a better business climate????

Trying to Catch Up

from the WBOY news website.

WBOY-TV – News for Clarksburg, Fairmont, Morgantown, West Virginia (http://www.wboy.com/story.cfm?func=viewstory&storyid=27961 - broken link)

The ladder leading to prosperity for West Virginia seems to be growing taller and harder to scale these days.

The bottom line question is this...

Is it in the best interest of the government to create opportunity and wealth for its citizens?

Looking at the socialistic policies of West Virginia, which by the way is never mentoned as the poorest of the poor and richest of the welfare handout states...all of the programs having been a failure and going on now for a fourth generation...almost 80 years...

As long as the government robs the children of incentive...they will never want to work and will never have to work...

Wealth is created by education, investment and work...It has never been any other way.

Our education system is a failure from top to bottom...and the challenge to work and obtain wealth is not even considered as an ideal or obtainable idea...
What we get is excuse...excuse for this not happening...excuse for that or lets pay money to have another study done..
Its all happened before...Rome had the same problem...welfare state to keep the people from revolting...paid mercenaries to hold back the Goths...and it worked, until the Hillarys and the Al Gores and the George Bushes of that day retired and pondered what "IS..IS.." then Rome was sacked...

You can have it just like it is....and it stinks...or you can get involved and demand change...
It will be your children that will inheirit this quagmire of economic filth and educational insult...

It's about WASTING the money! Not providing a decent education system...

That's why you have a debt load of thousands of dollars the day you graduate from college...how will you ever own a home or save any money to invest?...the noose is around your neck from day one...

We didn't do enough...we saved ourselves...but we didn't do enough to save your generation...
It was too easy to move to Cleveland or Miami...

Its not up to the state to provide the wealth to the citizens. However, it should provide the oppourtunities for the residents to become wealthy. This can be done, by investing in education, and creating a tax policy that favors business. Business and the whole service sector are major indicators of the economy and the stronger these are the better the state will be. WV is doing a great job investing in education, but the WV tax system is aweful and essentially punishes businesses for doing business

GHO: WELL SAID! Those years of choosing to educate yourself is bringing about a new awareness...
The states responsibility IS to create an atmosphere of opportunity for its citizens...
As I thought about your comments, I saw in my mind the thousands of small yellow and red gambling casino's that dot every road and street corner of West Virginia.
They exist to keep any effort to gather wealth in check...
Add them all up...
Taxes, addictive chemical taxes (booze, tobacco, ect) gaming/ gambling, ha ha...what's left....only milk and bread money...
Sadly...most new graduates will choose to move to another state and leave this for the next group of suckers...
Sounds like your staying...hope so...
We need a thousand like you and the first place we need them is in the school system, replacing the unresponsive failure and lack of accountability that has been there for 2 generations.
