Several threads have delved into the Wv epicurian wonder.
Perhaps someone will bring up one from the past and get it going.
Ramp season will be soon upon us.

Some of you may recall that Andrew Zimmern, of Bizarre Foods fame, filmed at the Pocahontas Road Kill Festival in Marlinton last year. His new series, Bizarre Foods America, begins tonight (Jan 23, 2012) at 10pm on the Travel Channel.
The Marlinton episode (listed simply as "West Virginia" on their web site) has been scheduled for Monday, February 27th, at 9pm. Other locations include New Orleans, Detroit, Charleston (SC, I presume), and Savannah.

lol. Yes, I had to mention those because we used to get them there 30 years ago and loved them. Now whether they still have them someone from Beckley will need to say. I remember they were even served with a mini fresh-baked personal loaf of bread. King Tut is one of those places you might see on Diners, Drive-ins, and Dives. My type of restaurant.

Great, more media coverage of WV that presents a certain stereotype.

For those unfamiliar with it, it's kind of like Chipotle, where you choose the fillings you want for your burrito, taco, etc.
Unlike Chipotle, it's a local establishment, not a chain, and doesn't have horrible health department inspections and a history of food poisoning!

Thank you for the recommendation, I will definitely try them!

Chimney Corner Cafe, Ashland
much more than the expected burger & fries and a setting that can't be beat.

I understand how this would be hard, living on a border county like hampshire and berkeley you usually end up eating in winchester, va or hagerstown, md or beyond. Unfortunately in our neck of the woods local restaurants are lacking. One of the reasons I posted this thread was to know where to eat when in the heart of wv, our end has been taken over by chains. The only exception in our area is shepherdstown where you can find high dollar places to eat that are highly rated, but I haven't ate there much so I can't really comment. I really wanna try a tudor biscuir!
