Being near Parkersburg might make it worse. I don't think Parkersburg has an Islamic community. Morgantown and Charleston have small ones.
Also, I would not say it is in Northern WV. I took a look at the map please see location. It is a stretch to call that area Northern WV, although it is not southern WV.

They might have a small one; heck, Beckley has a pretty large one for its size, so I wouldn't count out Parkersburg

Anything that far north of Flatwoods is northern WV to me as well.
Based on the OP, I could not recommend Parkersburg.

If looking for an Islamic population I would rule out Parkersburg as well, and I live here so know. As far as what is northern WV, if dividing the state between south & north I think the line is around Sutton then east-west, but if breaking it down between northern-central-and southern, then Ravenswood is clearly more central. I would draw Route 50 as the dividing line between northern & central WV in that case, but who really cares. We're all one state.

The location of Ravenswood in WV is pointless, and I am afraid it will hijack this thread. I am not changing my stance regardless if it is North/south/central/etc.

The city needs to be within a 1- 1 1/2 hr drive from Ravenswood so I don't have to drive excessive amounts simply to get home.

I think you would find what you are looking for in Charleston and also in the Huntington area. Charleston and Huntington are the two largest cities in the state and are less than an hour apart. Charleston has the Islamic Center of WV while Huntington has the Muslim Association of Huntington. Huntington is also home to Marshall University with bring additional diversity to the area. Although we have nothing in the state on the level of a city like Cincinnati, I think you can find something to suit your needs. Here's an exerpt from the WV Division of Culture and History that you may find helpful along with some links:
"Many nations and ethnic groups from the Middle East are represented in West Virginia. In the Metro Valley, approximately 1,400 individuals claim Arabic as their sole ancestry, and 1,600 individuals of multiple ancestry claim Arabic as their primary heritage. The population centers are in Kanawha, with 27% of the statewide Arabic population, and Cabell which has 8% of the West Virginia Middle Eastern population."

Thank you all. What I've gathered is I should take a look at Charleston. I think Huntington is too long to commute, but I will be checking that out.
I know its a bit out of place on the WV section, and understand that the patrons of this forum will be a bit biased....but hows Athens, OH. I understand thats close to the border, and my son is obsessed with skateboarding (I doubt theres anyone with knowledge on the subject, but if there is I'd like to know), so if you guys could give me your 2 cents on either, I'd appreciate it.

Athens is about a 50 minute commute each way to Ravenswood. I do not know if the route is four lane or two lane. Athens is home to Ohio University and that might enable you to find a larger number of Muslim families.
Parkersburg just built a new skateboarding park but they are having serious issues with graffiti and vandalism that makes me mad and sad. Parkersburg is only about 35-45 minutes from Athens. I do not know what boarding opportunities are in Athens.
I can see it as an option for you to explore if you don't mind the commute.

Perhaps you should go over to the Ohio forum and ask them?

Disgusts me about the skateboarding park vandalism as well but that's south Parkersburg for you. It's just like the destruction on Fort Boreman a week after they finished the park. I wish they would get caught but I'm afraid Parkersburg's police are more interested in manning their speed traps all around town.

That is most police departments.
Anyway, it could be worse. Still beats real violent crime.
