Other states have their crapholes too. Michigan has Detriot. Pennsylvania has the Pittsburgh Hill District and south Philly. New York has The Bronx. Ohio has Cleveland. Ths poverty in those areas easily rivals what it is in southern West Virginia. Those other states just have more people in other areas to raise their averages.

I think my mom said it best when she said "West Virginia is like a little slice of the Third World right in your own backyard."
I think that statement is very applicable to the state, when you consider that we have an extraction based economy, low education rates, and an almost oligarchical elite ruling class.

My daughter has left her bike on the front porch for the last week. We routinely go out and leave the house unlocked. I leave my keys in my car at work because I don't want to carry them around.
Can you do that in Virginia?

You are inviting a meth-head to steal your bike.

In rural places and gated communities....
And there are places in WV where you can't do that, namely Chas., Huntington, Beckley, Bluefield, ect...
Not to mention, your inviting yourself for trouble for doing that, all it takes is one random guy wandering into your area for not even 15mins.

I never worry...the two grandmothers who live on the other side of my street 'carry concealed.
They never miss anything.
