Also these towns are very close to a major interstate. Tampa is ok I've been there but it has some issues too. You can't really compare a big Florida city to a small mid-Atlantic town. It's apples and oranges. The thing you have to remember is they are old coal towns and coal was what made them prosper back in the day.
Roanoke is about 2 hours from Bluefield/Princeton. From there, some of the small mountain towns like Northfork, Welch, it's closer to 3, even though they are not terribly far from Bluefield because of the roads.

I live in Princeton, there really isn't a lot here. Jobs are dwindling and crime is on the rise. We have alot of the big city problems, ie prostitution drugs etc without any big city benefits ( nice restaurants, good hospitals, etc ). The cost of living is VERY cheap, especially compared to large cities like Tampa, Orlando, Richmond, Charleston SC etc.

I wouldn't recommend living here, but to each their own.

I would live in Princeton before Bluefield, it's in better shape and not quite as run down. removed as off topic.

I'm pleased to say that Princeton, WV is really having a renaissance with local businesses sprouting up including: Gary Bowlings House of Art opening soon, the Sly Fox Vape Shop, Pixel Nation vintage game shop, Gold and Silver Look jewlery and collectors items and coming soon Local Mo' Joe Organic Cafe! This in addition to many other downtown businesses including the Riff Raff Arts Collective gallery, Stages Music School, Salvation Army Thrift, and the public library. Come to the weekly Monday open mic night at the Room Upstairs over the gallery on Mercer St 7-11 to hear some local talent!

My small business, Falcon Properties, LLC, opened in 2012 and offers 1-3 bedroom residential apartments in Princeton in or near downtown. For current listings please visit facebook.com/falconpropertiesllc . No login is required. Enjoy your visit or stay!
