Question Are there houses for rent in Bluefield/Princeton???

Hi,
My family of four (plus two beagles) may be relocating to the Bluefield/Princeton area in September. I've been looking online for rental housing, but I am not finding much online at all. I've only found small apartments, which seem to be geared toward students.

If anyone knows of any agencies or websites in the area that rent houses, please let me know where to look. Maybe they just don't advertise them? We are not really sure what area we want to live in yet, so we'd prefer to rent the first year. If we have to, we'll rent a townhouse or apartment, but a house would be so much better for the children and our dogs.

I would greatly appreciate any help!!

M. Patrick

Many areas of West Virginia haven't quite caught on to the idea of putting R.E. ads on the Web.

But Google is your friend. Try the following search strings:

"real estate agent" bluefield wv

and

"real estate agent" princeton wv

Thanks snorpus, we were hoping that might be the case. We've looked at lots of realtor websites, but haven't found much in the way of rentals. We'll be taking a trip up next weekend, so hopefully we'll get a better idea of what's available then.

New Jersey isn't the only state to have a city named Princeton. In the WV Forum, you might expect that the poster is asking about Princeton, WV. Especially since the OP wrote "Bluefield/Princeton".

And since the OP was looking to move in September, I hope he and his family hasn't been sleeping in their car all this time.

The difference would be: you would be wrong. There are plenty of reasons to live here, versus zero reasons I can see to live in that part of WV. Mercer, McDowell, Mingo or Wyoming counties anyway. In fact, downtown Bluefield is an absolute embarassment. Last time I was there either a couple more buildings along Princeton Ave either fell over or were demolished. As was the dilapidated parking garage. We dont have stuff like that here. We also have jobs and good weather. How long has it been since you have seen the sun?

Bluefield, WV is a dump. Bluefield, VA is not much better. Princeton is a little better, but still lacking.

And i'm not just making comments without basis, I spent about 6 months there while working on a project for my employer.

Oh, we dont have any "bridges to nowhere" here either.

I don't know much about that part of the state at all (takes like 5 hours to get there from the northern panhandle) but going by my wanderlust map skills it's not too far from Roanoke which I'm guessing has at least a fair amount of jobs. Also these towns are very close to a major interstate. Tampa is ok I've been there but it has some issues too. You can't really compare a big Florida city to a small mid-Atlantic town. It's apples and oranges. The thing you have to remember is they are old coal towns and coal was what made them prosper back in the day.

Yeah I know what you're talking about that is a bridge that connected a town in Ohio to the Wheeling area har har you're sooo funny. Well they are trying to get it tore down...both states want it demolished. The problem is it's owned by a private individual and it's being hung up in court I believe due to technicalities and red tape. Some consider it a historic landmark as it's pretty old (1920's) not to mention it was in the movie the Silence of the Lambs. It definitely needs demolished though.
