Yes, that was my point about marriage in general. You have stated it much better.

I fail to see why gay couples can't get married except that the rabid right wingnuts think it's some kind of abomination. And that is who the politician's cater to. And also where the seperation of church and state fails.

There was a time in our history when people who were of different races couldn't marry in some states. That was changed legislatively. And of course, there are people who disapprove but there's nothing they can do about it.

You're right. Your day is coming.

Where does it end Herd? Marry minors, marry your pet, marry your sister...who's to say their rights aren't being denied too? I know that's extreme, but I hope it illustrates the point. If it's done for you, why shouldn't it be done for the next "minority" group? Would you stand up for their "rights" too?

yes I have taken Biology. Lets stop being a smart @ss shall we? But there is this awesome thing called adoption and in vitro fertilization. Have you ever read a newspaper. Way to be a jerk

Funny about the medical visitation thing. My mom who has a BSN, and P.A.C. and has worked in the medical field from toe tagging right out of high school to being an ER nurse to pretty much running the whole medical office disagrees with you, as well the H.R.C. Are you trying to tell me you know more than both my mom and an entire organization fulled of paid professionals that study that stuff for their job? My mom says that the hospital and doctor are not forced to recognize same-sex partners unless there is a LAW which says they have to. First of kin includes mom, dad, brother, sister, son or daughter. But if none of them can be reached then the doctor may or may not take the same-sex spouse into consideration on the basis as a "close personal friend."

Your next response I cannot even dignify with an answer. For you to make a mockery of my committed, consensual relationship by comparing it to marrying pets, siblings, etc If you or ANYONE ever said that to my face I promise you I'm not afraid of going to jail. I'm not going to let someone else’s ignorance and hate interfere with my love and I will fight for my relationship. Also minors can get married. Isn't Sara Palin's pregnant 17 year old daughter getting married? Yeah, that’s going to work out well

You're right. Your day is coming. There should be a law still to prevent marriage between blacks and whites. That's exactly what the Jews want. The most racist group of people on earth, want to have a melting pot where we are all one color and one race. Wonder what they'd call them. Motley?
It's the white women that marry the blacks and not the other way around. No decent white man wants to lock lips with the nappy headed, big lips of a primative black woman. Can't you see that Blacks are primative and are at least 50 years behind whites?. Look at your highness Obama's kin. good gracious.
We are all one race or actually one species - homo sapiens.

From wikipedia:

Quote:
A human being, also human or man, is a member of a species of bipedal primates in the family Hominidae (taxonomically Homo sapiens — Latin: "wise human" or "knowing human").[3][4] DNA evidence indicates that modern humans originated in east Africa about 200,000 years ago. Humans have a highly developed brain, capable of abstract reasoning, language, introspection and problem solving. This mental capability, combined with an erect body carriage that frees the forelimbs (arms) for manipulating objects, has allowed humans to make far greater use of tools than any other species.
Please note where humans originated.

However, I think your post makes you an exception. The "highly developed brain, capable of abstract reasoning, etc." part.

Wonder where your gene pool originated? :)

I apologize in advance to those who consider themselves moral people, as I have no moral fiber, but technically, marriage is nothing more than a binding instrument of law. And as a result of this invention, half of the people on this planet are always miserable (excluding divorce lawyers). So my position is, if gay people want to bring this upon themselves, then let them learn what real misery is and allow them to be married.

I've been thinking . .

On a technical note, the female egg can be fertilized with another female egg, creating another female. This, of course, is bad news for males in that eventuality of when science replaces fiction, so I can see some trepidation from males in allowing this eventual obliteration of their sex. I get it, because it's understandable -- self-preservation states the argument against same-sex marriage is normal behavior (for males anyway, especially where female-and-female is concerned). However, it should be grounds for allowing females to marry females if the argument is merely about reproducing. In this case, I'd suggest some fail-safe to discourage both females from impregnating each other to avoid confusion . . sister being a half-sister at the same time, who gets awarded custody in divorce, etc.

Other solutions to resolve the reproducing argument could be modifying one (1) of the partners in the male-and-male relationship into a hybrid human, i.e., hermaphroditic marsupial. I only recommend marsupial because males are not anatomically equipped to gestate comfortably, but to each their own.

If the argument is not about reproducing, the simple solution for those who say marriage is between a man and a woman, is for one of the two same-sex partners to legally become the other sex. Since it is legally possible to change the sex of a person (i.e., transsexuals), it should resolve this problem, except of course, for anyone who doesn't want to have a sex change -- can't please everybody. I'm not saying they have to surgically alter themselves, just change the legal sex. Done. Granted, it might seem odd, say, if an apparent male went into a female's public restroom, or visa versa, but with proper identification, proving he, was in fact, a she, or she, was in fact, a he, it shouldn't be confusing or an issue to any concerned, or law enforcement personnel, as long as the toilet lid is left in the correct and proper position for their sex. Noted, this solution doesn't relieve any social stigma -- can't please everybody. However, those in same-sex relationships who prefer less social discomfort, hormone treatment and sexual reassignment surgery of one (1) person in the same-sex relationship would satisfy most parties concerned, except of course, anyone who doesn't want to have a sex change -- can't please everybody. Draw straws, whatever, choose. The problem I see with this solution is it overlaps with self-preservation again, because naturally, one could refuse to marry, especially knowing that a legal or surgical sex change is in order, and most likely, this would cause people to live in sin.

The most practical thing for *****s to do (and **** you politically correct types) is give up on the word "marriage". Quit trying to juxtipose gobbleygoo over a binding instrument of law. If it's about the legal argument of taxation and benefits then find solutions in that arena of law that everybody can be happy with. Call the binding instrument a blahblahblah . . whatever, it's irrelevant, but you're never going to have the mass condone "marriage" because it inadvertedly calls them *****, i.e, Gay people get married. Look at this way, if you call somebody gay who is not, they feel they are within their right to shoot you until you are dead.

As a previous poster said something about marrying trees, and nothing personally against trees, I have a thing for mermaids, so I'm personally hoping this ability to marry whomever works out. Haven't seen any mermaids in West Virginia, but it's possible they could swim up river, one day.

Hope springs eternal.
