Dr. Jerry Forster, left, area president of UC-Beckley and University of Charleston president Dr. Ed Welch, right, hang University of Charleston banners just after midnight in front of Carter Hall as administrative maintenance staff look on. During the day today, University of Charleston will be working to show the new campus's presence on South Kanawha Street. UC-Beckley will lease former Mountain State University buildings as online classes begin in one week and UC-Beckley classes begin on Jan. 14.
I think it will recover nicely and possibly reach new heights with the reputation that UC brings to the table, it will be more attractive to students in Southern WV
eh, I don't know how much UC's reputation extends beyond WV. I also hope they didn't bite off more than they could chew taking over MSU's Martinsburg and online presence...

UC's reputation doesn't need to extend beyond WV when it just opened up a campus in the middle of southern WV. This will be an easy commuter campus for hundreds or even thousands of kids in that part of the state if they want to take advantage of it. Beckley is the hub of the coalfields.
I can't speak for the Martinsburg location, but offering online classes seems to be the direction a lot of universities are going these days. It offers an alternative for the non-traditional students.
UC also attracts kids from up-state New York somehow.
