Talk about WV..Did you know that the Jesse James gang robbed a bank in Huntington in Sept.1875 and two of the four got away. They were Frank James and Cole Younger. They got away with $20,000 dollars.

Actually, at least 3 of the gang got away. They rode north to Monongah and laided low at the farm of my maternal great grandfather. They were there for over a week and my gggrandmother, said to have been Cherokee, fed them. Mr. James paid her a dollar for each meal..a lot of money for the time. That was the last time my gggrandfather saw his cousin....a man who called himself Jim Leap. As a child, Jim had seen his father killed by Quantrills gang with a pitchfork and bayonets during the Civil War and had sworn vengance and murdered everyone connected with that death. It was said Jim Leap had killed over 40 people. In Missouri near the home of Jesse James is the small stream called XXXX creek..I feel that Jim Leap and Jessie James were neighbors...as well as business aquaintences...

Here's a link from the City of Huntington website that also has a picture of the bank. It is actually one of the business surrounding the old train station that is now a restaurant. The bank is now a computer/internet company. Here's the link. The City of Huntington, WV
