This is the sort of cooperative effort we need for all the cities in our state. If we can get past the regional bickering and the "me too" attitudes, and have our state government actually start to look after the interests of the people like they do in Texas rather than looking to special interests like they do here, we can actually turn our state around. There is no reason we can not have several prosperous, showpiece cities in West Virginia. We are among the most resource rich states in the country.
I think this is a really cool idea, and it takes a cooperative effort from all parties to make it happen. Parkersburg has so much potential, I hope to see it fill up downtown again.
I see no reason why the Citizens' Building, with its proximity to the courthouse, public debt, the Blennerhassett Hotel, and others, is not a place of thriving business and potential apartments/condos. Then again, I have no clue what is there now (besides a vacant storefront).
