Default Safest Mountain Towns in WV

I have been researching land in the Lewisburg and White Sulpher Springs area. My biggest problem is I won't be able to visit until the spring.

My dh and I are looking for a nice, safe, smaller community to buy 20+ acres no more than 20 miles from the town. We would also like to have a higher elevation or at least cooler temps in the summer.

Can anyone give me more info or recommend any other towns?

Thank you
Lisa

Marlinton or Hillsboro in Pocahontas County (about 30 mi north of Lewisburg). You might also consider Randolph County (Elkins area) and Tucker County (Parsons-Thomas-Davis area).

In most parts of that Tucker-Randolph-Pocahontas-Greenbrier County region, you won't have to go 20 miles to find 20 acres... a mile or two outside of town and you're in the country.

Probably about as safe as you can get in WV. I read the Pocahontas Times weekly. Every week there's a couple of DUI's, maybe one burglary, one bad check charge. Once in a while a drug case. I think one murder in the last year, and probably many years go by without a murder at all.

Major crime is tough to get away with in small towns... everybody knows everybody, you don't have the anonymity you find in larger cities.

Look around at some of the data on this web site if you want the statistics.
