That doesn't work in his world, Havoc is the best spinmaster around.
Actually you could learn a lot from reading articles instead of making incorrect assumptions.

. However, according to USA Today, the electric utilities that buy much of the state's coal "are retiring coal-fired plants or upgrading plants to burn cheaper natural gas." While coal producers may lose out in this shift, natural gas producers are likely to benefit.
The article said that some coal power plants were being retired or converted to natural gas, it did not say anything about the coal industry losing ground. If one would actually take an article for what it says, then even a child could understand that coal production had increased and was the largest contributor to WV's economic growth according to this article.
Obviously it didn't. It mentioned the largest growth in the state was from coal. Decline is opposite from increase FYI
It's true, coal mining is still a major factor in the economy in our state. Most of that is happening in the northern portions these days too though since the seams in the southern portion are too shallow to mine profitably except for the mountaintop mining operations.
They recently opened a new mine in Monongalia County. Much of the coal produced will go to China.
Apparently you don't know what the difference is between past, present, and future in relation to what this article said.
You are from Southern WV which is a living monument to the decline of the coal industry. For the past decades it has declined, it is currently declining, and will continue to decline. You should know that. In fact I found several articles on the subject I'll post them when I get home from work.

Chris being from Southern WV you should know the coal industry has been declining for decades. However, If you want articles no problem. I found several recent ones about the current decline and how it will be worst in the future in both WV and in the US. I only have a phone to post but since you are unaware of the sad state of the coal industry I will gladly inform you.
Any child from WV could tell yoy this. Now you are arguing for the sake of arguing.

It don't matter what articles you post, they have no bearing on what the article said:
"West Virginia's GDP grew by 3.3% in 2012, with over a third of this growth due to the mining industry."
Coal has always been up and down, and as CT said, the coal will be sold to China, they will always be a market for it.
Much of the "War on Coal" is without scientific basis and highly misguided, but the tactic is having its effects. We are fortunate that the Chinese are hungry for energy, so they will gladly buy what we can profitably produce here.

Out of the 139,424,080 total tonnage of coal mined for 2011, 83,896,868 total tonnage was mined in Boone, Logan, Wyoming, McDowell,Lincoln, Raleigh, Wayne, Kanawha, Fayette, Mercer, and Greenbrier Counties.

Maybe our next President will reverse the EPA's leash on mining permits and Obama's policies. China, Russia, India, and other countries are going to burn coal while the US burns itself with regulations and nonsense. I have a bad feeling things are going to get worse, not only in Appalachia, but for the US as well.
What are we going to do when China stops loaning us money or comes to collect? The deficit isnt getting any lower.
Perilous times indeed.
