WVU Embarrasing
Does anyone else feel embarrassed to be a west virginia fan after the biggest lost in the history of football? I still can't get over it with the horrible coaching and players lacking the sense of urgency with a simple win against a 4-7 team to go to the national championship. I refuse to watch the bowl game as well just sickened

Aw, really?! I know it was disappointing, but everyone has an off day. Granted, I wish it would've been timed better. But I am definately NOT embarrassed to be a WVU fan! And any TRUE fan, isn't either.

Well the reason of my embarrassment is the is the first time on the national stage since our dismantle in the 90's like this. It cost the university millions of dollars just the one game and not only that to help put wv on the map not only the school but the state. Things like college football exposure helps tremendously..Just ask Oklahoma University for example when they won their first national championship the next year their requests for enrollment grew 34.5% thats just in one year. Not to mention what it would have helped the school bring to the state. Saturday I was very embarrassed to be one but thats the way it goes we must rebound in janurary or next year at least I hope..Yes its just football but its really alot more in some ways

Embarrased? Naah! We got our butt beat by family....
If we were going to be beat...let it be Pitt. We'll get them back next year and they know it...
It was a 'bowl game' in itself and always has been. It will not negatively affect the enrollment of WVU...and the last thing I would want to see is 8,000 more of those crazy couch burning out-of-state migrants in Morgantown, the slum lords would have to build another layer on their hovels/dwellings.

If you are embarrassed about this one game let me ask these questions.
1. Is this Grant Town boy not the best football coach to ever grace the WVU Gridiron?
Yes, better than Bobby Bowden, beause he is re-inventing the game.
2. Are not Pat White and Steve Slaton and company simply one of the best or THE best
team to everplay at the U? (Sam Huff included)
3. Hasn't the past record of wins had a meaning. I remember the days of "The Don".
4. A factor was intensity...Pitt played with a hatred and would not be denied.
5. The game proved that on a given day that any team could beat another....
Pitt made mistakes but they were tough.
Nobody feels worse than the members of this team...they were not cocky...they were just beaten to death by a team that would not let them win...and the thing I hated the most was seeing them dance on MY WVU logo in the middle of the field when the game ended....another year is coming, nobody will forget this loss.

Probably made you no angrier than the Pitt team was at the WVU fans who threw rocks at the Pitt buses. I think the success of the WVU team this year is commendable. To finish somewhere in the top 11 teams in the nation (depending on which poll) is always something to be proud of. The thing that embarrasses me the most as a WVU alumnus is the way that some of the fans act. The team always plays their heart out but as with any sport, you win some and you lose some. WVU has a horrible reputation around the nation though for the behavior of its fans. This is something that the school as a whole needs to be tougher on. Drunk, impassioned, whatever there is still no excuse for fans to be throwing rocks at buses, trash cans on coaches, golf balls and whisky bottles on the field, burning couches etc. Treat the opposing team with respect and you will get respect back. Throw things at them and get them fired up and it just might give them the edge to win when they are a 4 touchdown underdog and you are planning on a national championship. When it's considered a good night after the game when there were only eight Dumpster fires, four rubbish fires, one car set on fire and 123 calls to 911, I think that's a sad standard. The team didn't embarrass me but the fans do with their behavior sometimes.
Pitt brawls its way to victory on the strength of its defense

Sounds like Oxford and Cambridge in the 1600's...days of LOW TECHNOLOGY.
I missed the rock throwing, but I'm not surprised...many of our student-body come from Pa...????
