Default Ghent/Beckley WV jobs

Hi everyone, just wondering from all the friends that live in this beautiful area, are there opportunities for warehouse personnel? We will be moving down that way, to Flat Top Lake in a few years, and will need to find work, have to get medical insurance? Would you need to go through an agency? any suggestions would be appreciated. I hope to find work in a hospital or assisted living facility as an nurses aide or admissions. I have heard that jobs are not plentiful. I am more concerned having my hubby find work with medical insurance in a warehouse, this is where all his experience is.

hope u find what u are looking for..Insurance is VERY costly anywhere..We have VSP eye insurance offered free where i work........and hubby has it..same co..his is MUCH MUCH better coverage..My glasses i just got pretty much free thru dh's job if i would have used mine it would have been over 700.00 same co..different variations to the policies..so really ask about the policies..mite be same name but they WORK differ on the co u work at.........................

We have mt.bc/bs it has variations..one thing i love about OUR policy ds can have insurance as long as he LIVES at home (special ed) with the family policy..many other co. don't offer this..now again with OUR policy..............we had AETNA before and I loved it..quick cheap etc..but no coverage for ds..........."we" do not qualify for ssi/medicaid..................

i know the health coverage at my job is VERY COSTLY it just depends how much the co..can get it for and they pay into it..we also have aflac at dh's co..LOVE LOVE IT and the price........

good luck on jobs there..u have to look hard and deep for that area..........they do have health clinics that can help out medical..scarbrough was the best experience i have EVER received on health care when we first got here............i was highly impressed..and i wasn't treated any less without insurance..

I think I worded my post incorrectly. I know I need medical insurance, I did not mean to put a question mark there. I am just trying to find out if there are opportunities for my husband to find work in a warehouse setting. I don't know if there are many warehouses out in this area or surrounding areas, and if people are looking for employment, is it best to go through an agency, for instance ManPower. I am aware that the economy is not as strong as it is here in NJ, and that the pay is much less. We do have to find work though and one of us has to find employment that carries medical coverage. I am looking for people from this area that can tell me what the work force is like and where there may be warehouses in the area.
Thanks

charleston is the one that comes to mind for warehouses and job availability..heck i am trying to think of any in beckley..i know my dh tried to get on as a driver for some when we got here and he was too far from most of the large chains..those were in charleston..usually for drivers within 50 miles............they do have wvworkforce in this area and i have seen some temp agencies..............this area overflows with min. wage jobs...........and high turnover positional jobs...........sorry i can't give u much more info..our jobs didn't come easy in this area..one thing i found when u find a descent paying job U don't leave it too quick...................and $8.00 seems like the BIG $$ which is LOW..........now some of the mines are paying laborers 11.00 starting then u can move up or differ. areas..these are private contractors..Boxley which is gravel concrete etc.type of work..and the driver positions starting they offered my dh 10.50........no matter what his training was............def. try and land something before coming here..or have $$$$$ saved...........oh yea 84 lumber starting with them he was offered 7.24.....and Lowes offered him 9.00 for driving and they said NO OT.....
just an idea what we dealt with i know your situation is differ...

ouchh it' s so hard to hear such pay amounts! drivers here make $20 plus per hour. Hopefully an agency help him. Charleston is 1.5 hours from Ghent right? that is quite a drive for $9 per hour. Maybe he could get into Walmart or Sams Club. All his experience is in warehousing.. fingers and toes crossed.
