Weather around here is pretty mild with the Spring and Fall seasons being the most comfortable times of the year. Spring weather is usually in the 50s-60s with your typical Spring rains. The leaves are usually fully out by the beginning of May with lots of nice flowering trees in the area. The trees at Ritter Park are usually nice this time of year and this is when the Rose Garden begins to see some color.

Summer temps usually stay in the 70s-80s with the occasional temps up in the 90s but those days are usually few. Summer also tends to have the occasional thunderstorm but overall it is usually pretty dry. The worst thing about the Summer can be the humidity if you aren't used to it.

Fall temps usually get down into the 50s and 60s again with the night temps going down into the 40s. The lower temps create some beautiful Fall folliage as long as the summer hasn't been too dry. Heavy rains also are a possibility as you get into later Fall as the warm and cold fronts create the ideal conditions for this.

Winter tends to see temps in the 20s-30s with the occasional dip down into the teens but again, this is rare and if it happens it usually doesn't last long. In terms of snow, we usually get a few 2" or less snow falls with one or two snows of about 8-10". The snow is normally on the ground for no more than 3-4 days at a time though, if it even lasts a full day.

In terms of severe weather, no hurricanes, tornados are rare(maybe once or twice every 5-10 years) and they usually sputter out pretty quick with minimal damage if they do happen. The only concern weather wise here is flash flooding in the Spring and Fall periods. Otherwise, Huntington weather is the perfect mix so that as you begin to get tired of one season, another comes along. Hope this helps and let me know if you need anything else.
Tim

Tim,

Thank you so much for all your information. You have been very helpful. We are coming for a visit is the Spring to look for a place to live. It is always good to know what kind of weather to expect when you are planning to move somewhere.

Thanks again for your time and help,

No problem. In WV there is a saying, If you don't like the weather just wait a day or two and it will change. Good example, yesterday in Huntington it was in the 70s while today it was in the 40s. Let me know if you need any additional help or if you have questions about any particular area.
