I left Charleston for the DC area several years ago because of the very thing you are concerned about
: lack of jobs. The economy there is very depressed in MOST fields, especially the chemical/manufacturing industries. The accounting firms in Charleston are rather small, however depending on your experience you might luck out. I had a few friends from college who found work as accountants in town but it took a lot of time to finally land one. The Charleston Area Alliance website might be a decent place to start,
http://www.charlestonareaalliance.org/, maybe you could send an email seeking job assistance as there seems to be quite a few members involved in the local banking/financial industry. I would avoid the Charleston Gazette classifieds, believe me I've looked about the only thing you will find there is a janitorial position (which isn't a bad thing if that is your field) or temp service offerings.
