Allie Montgomery is on a distinguished road
Default Charleston - Clendenin

My parents live in Bomont WV near Clendenin - I am going to try and move there within 6 months. I live in Maryland and have a pretty good job as an accountant here. Circumstances are such that it is probably a good chance I will have to move. I am going through a divorce and my home here is being put up for sale. My parents are elderly and my Mom is blind and recently had a pace maker put in, my Dad is also having health problems. The question is this, I will have a place to live but I need to find a job, preferably in Charleston but I have been looking these last couple of weeks and it looks like jobs are tight there. I have been looking at the Charleston newspapers, any suggestions on where else to look?

Allie

I left Charleston for the DC area several years ago because of the very thing you are concerned about: lack of jobs. The economy there is very depressed in MOST fields, especially the chemical/manufacturing industries. The accounting firms in Charleston are rather small, however depending on your experience you might luck out. I had a few friends from college who found work as accountants in town but it took a lot of time to finally land one. The Charleston Area Alliance website might be a decent place to start, http://www.charlestonareaalliance.org/, maybe you could send an email seeking job assistance as there seems to be quite a few members involved in the local banking/financial industry. I would avoid the Charleston Gazette classifieds, believe me I've looked about the only thing you will find there is a janitorial position (which isn't a bad thing if that is your field) or temp service offerings.
