On a quick side note, Doc Holliday was named the leaded candidate for the job by collegefootballtalk.com this morning and could get hired today, according to the site. I understand the appeal of him (national championship, recruiting, ect.), but like many of you, was hoping for Terry Bowden.

I laughed over the whole situation. I think a lot of this may have to deal with karma. Perhaps WVU fans behavior will improve with the next coach? But I doubt it

That's funny, that is the same thing that I thought after seeing Marshall go 3-9 this year

Never been too impressed with Marshall fans myself, but I guess the colors that each person wears impairs their ability to be objective about their own fans. In general, most of the worst behavior that I have seen at any school comes from the student body, not from the true fans that buy season tickets every year. To be fair, WVU's students can be pretty brutal though. They seem to think that it is expected of them, which is a shame.

Yeah, well I really don't give one hairy crap about football in either way. Go ahead bash Marshall. I'm just saying Marshall's student body seems more respectful than WVU's.

If you really believe that as a Marshall grad, I have some beautiful Wheeling beachfront property to sell you. Spare me the collegiate xenophobia....

Having gone to several WVU and Marshall games, I have to agree with GHO. While you have rowdy students at any college, WVU seems to have a higher percentage than most schools. As a student at WVU, I saw whisky bottles, golf balls, trash cans and various other items thrown onto the field to the extent that penalties were called on the crowd. The most recent example of this was the rocks being thrown at the Pitt buses and the threats and property vandalism against WVUs own kicker after missing 2 kicks. I also know of no teams that have refused to return to Huntington like some have refused to return to Morgantown for the poor behavior of the fans. Virginia Tech and Miami are 2 right off the top of my head. Mention couch burnings and I don't think Huntington comes to mind for anyone. I think that after game activity is unique to WVU. Just my own observations being familiar with both programs.
Tim

I love how people act like WVU is the only school where such activities go on, any of you ever heard of Ohio State riots after some of their games, hell they don't burn couches they burn cars. Va tech can say what they want about not coming back to WVU, their fans aren't exactly class acts at games, believe me I've been there. I could care less about Miamis comments either, their fans are awful and their football players seem to be recruited from federal prisons. Since I live in the DC area I go to the Maryland WVU games and im hear to tell you Maryland fans are easily just as obnoxious if not worse, I've never seen guy Mountaineer fans giving full frontal flashes to opposing team fans, and of course I had to deal with the whole incest shout outs and being called white trash while being in one of the most ghetto crime ridden counties in America. WVUPharm is probably like me and sick of everyone acting like we are the most foul behaved fans in the world, Marshall fans are easily just as bad, those of you who don't think so need to go to a WVU Marshall game.

Because it's a tradition that came out of a stereotype. They were burning couches at Pitt after they beat WVU....never mentioned on any news casts. WVU does it, it's national news. If Marshall ever won anything, I guarantee you they'd do the same thing. I'd like to think you'd be more concerned with the fact that some find it acceptable to throw blanket descriptions on an entire body of people. And, frankly, if you think those that go to WVU are less "respectful" than Marshall students, I can comfortably call out those people as idiots.

Gee, thanks internet mom. It's great to have people like you that think they have the right to tell me how I should feel. Get a cat or something.
