Sleepy Hollow and the Woods were both originally developed by the same developer....there is no other connection.

Sleepy Hollow has contractors who plow the roads in winter and generally get it done way before the county gets around to plowing Mt Lake Rd,which connects Sleepy Hollow and the Woods to rt 9.

Sleepy Hollows covenants are pretty limited......no mobile homes,400 square foot minimum home size,no junk cars....thats about it.

This is a years old thread but I would like to hear more from anyone who lives in The Woods, either full-time or part-time and your thoughts on living in Hedgesville. We rented a house for the weekend and enjoy the beauty of the area and loved the community amenities. We are thinking about buying a vacation home in the neighborhood. We have been going to Berkeley Springs for a dozen years as well as the Poconos but The Woods has us considering there as well.

I'd like to know more about the demographics of the neighborhood and how many are permanent residents vs. part-timers. We are a couple in our 40s, no kids, a couple dogs and can appreciate the quiet life. We lead very busy work lives in PA and love the idea of a weekend mountain getaway.

The house we rented was awesome but what gave me pause was the next-door neighbors with the big Confederate flag and off-leash dogs who came running over.

Default The Woods (Hedgesville)

Is anyone familiar with The Woods in Hedgesville? I am curious how far it is from shopping, gyms, etc. Also, I'm unclear on the HOA dues and the golf membership (is the golf membership required). We're trying to compare it to Penn National in Fayetteville, PA.

I merged your thread into this one about the same development, thinking you might get some of your questions answered.

The golf membership isn't required,my family has owned a place there since 1979. There was a rule,i'm not sure if its still in force, that if you didn't opt into the golf membership when you purchase you can NEVER opt in. You could call and ask them what the current policy is.

There is a grocery store, and a couple of resturaunts within 15 minutes away. Most shopping is going to be closer to 30 minutes away.

They closed some things a few years ago but still have some gym facilities on site. They still have some rental cabins so you could always come down and stay there for a few days and check things out.

Do you know what was closed? I'm trying to find the time to go out, but definitely need to do my research so that I can maximize that time.

They have a website:thewoods.com that will tell you pretty much all the amenities available. They used to have a motel and a resturaunt that closed. They still have a grill and pub by the golf course and rental cabins. They still have a gym and a spa.

The community has two main sections. The older, original section where my parents place is located contains mostly smaller rustic cabin style houses on heavily wooded lots. The newer section has some townhouses and a lot of single family homes on mostly cleared, open lots.
